Describe your activity on the server:

AVAILABLITY
Sunday
Monday -Saturday
1PM - 12AM
7AM - 12AM

I’m usually active everyday, for most of the day, although my schedule may vary depending on real-life responsibilities. In recent weeks, I’ve been logging on between 12PM-2PM and staying online until 10PM-12AM, averaging around 10 hours. Although my activity has dipped slightly due to a recent move (no longer a fake aussie), I am still readily available overall, even during night hours if given a heads-up. As of recently, my sleep schedule has been messed up, so I've been awake from 8PM - 6AM and 11AM - 8PM.

Last month marked my 3rd year of playing SRP. Since I joined in June 2022, I’ve upheld my consistency in activity overall, and continue to explore new roleplay opportunities and build new friendships. After taking a brief break from the server over the summer of 2024 due to general burnout, I returned around September/October and jumped into new factions. Since my return, I’ve maintained that activity. Even while not online on the server, I engage with the community over the Discord servers - I enjoy chatting with others, as I’m sure some from my previous time in EMS can attest to my frequent activity in the EM channels.

That aside, I’ve spent my time on SRP across several different factions and areas of roleplay, including KPD, shrine, various sports teams, and of course… EMS !! EMS prevails as my favorite, although I may be biased because it was also my first ever faction. It allowed me to break out of the little bubble I had been operating in during my first year of SRP, and I made many incredible friends there that continue to shape my experience today.

Focusing on activity primarily, I believe that I had spent about 1 year and 8 months in EMS, and around a year in KPD. I spent only about 1-2 months in the shrine faction, as it unfortunately was not the right fit for me. I’ve also been a part of multiple sports teams in both the high school and college rosters: college track, high school male football, college male basketball, and currently high school cheer - which is my longest-running at nearly 9 months and counting!

TLDR; I am available for up to 12-18 hours daily, though my regular activity usually spans over 4-10 hours. My activity is mostly consistent nowadays and driven by my love and passion for the server, as well as the many friends that I’ve been blessed to have met. I greatly enjoy engaging with the community in IC and OOC settings, and am always seeking exciting roleplay opportunities and roles that allow me to contribute to the entire community.

What experiences do you have with roleplay?
I’ve had many fleeting passions throughout my years, but my love for reading has remained wholly consistent, as something that I have always held close and dedicated myself to. I've been writing for the majority of my life (roughly before I was 10!), having spent much of my time reading stories and exploring new worlds through literature. I began roleplaying at age 9 or 10 on chat platforms (for the sake of my dignity and sanity, I will not name them… but if you know of any roleplay/writing platforms in the 2010s, then I was probably on them), and gradually entered further into the roleplay community, learning to be more expressive and literate in my writing ability.

As I grew older, I was introduced to the novel idea of Minecraft roleplay (and Roblox roleplay…) through YouTube videos. My original preferred medium for roleplay was text-based only, relying on the imagination, so the concept of having a sandbox to play with, an expansive “physical” realm to breathe life into my ideas - it was magical to me, drawing me in. However, I never actually explored personally using Minecraft to roleplay until much later, since back then I wasn’t aware of any existing servers. For a long time, I returned to my text-based roleplays, placing a heavy emphasis on writing and exploring new character concepts and dynamics, partaking in the beauty of creation. I also dabbled briefly and sparsely in TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying games!) - namely, Dungeons and Dragons, which continues to have a chokehold on me as one of my favorite forms of content to consume online. I’ve always loved the idea of building a deep, rich story with only the limit being my imagination, especially with collaborating friends… or just listening to the tales that other adventurers weave.

I began to explore Minecraft roleplay when I joined the server back in 2022, and since then, it too has had me in a chokehold (fun fact, I almost joined way earlier but didn’t because I misinterpreted a rule that led me to believe I couldn’t properly engage in roleplay to my liking on here… whoops. Rule 4.4 my dearly despised). Since joining SRP, I’ve explored several areas of roleplay, many of which can be observed in my prior response regarding activity.

Many of my first few months were spent engaging in student roleplay, and, of course, a short-lived, self-started gang that still remains an important marker for me in my journey here. I eventually sank further into the community as I joined a few different gangs with my friends and made new connections- some of which have prevailed to the present time, or been rekindled in recent times. As I drew away from GangRP, I instead turned my attention towards factions, and applied for EMS as a surgeon. I had the opportunity to explore the intricacies of a (somewhat) professional and very silly workplace-based roleplay environment with my friends, new and old. While I was in EMS and KPD, I had turned my focus primarily to roleplaying adult characters and the more town-based avenue of writing. Since my resignation, I have returned to roleplaying in student roles.

I’ve always opted for third-person roleplay, extending to numerous detailed paragraphs. My preferred type of writing is lyrical prose, although it typically requires more time and thought - I also love dialogue-heavy interaction between characters!

I’ve become adaptable in scenarios and collaborative when it comes to group instances, and engaging with all or many individuals in a setting. I’ve continued building my fluency in writing and character creation, as well as expanding on the stories of my beloved characters. I also have strength in my versatility across several roles, ranging from playing students, gangsters/criminals, medical professionals, police and detectives - as well as a large array of fantasy concepts not typical to SRP. Overall, my experience in both text-based roleplay and Minecraft roleplay across the span of 8-10 years exemplifies my passion and dedication to roleplay and writing.

What is your motivation for applying?
Returning to this faction has been weighing on my mind for the longest time, since back when I left a year ago. Back then, being a part of EMS gave me a sense of purpose and community with others that I hadn’t known in my time spent meandering the server without a true objective or anchor to hold onto. This faction had given me that. A place to ground myself to, while also expanding my horizons far beyond what I could see before - a lighthouse to identify where I had belonged, and to guide me further out to sea. It was not only the true starting point of my journey on this server, but also the catalyst of many of my connections, allowing me to open new doors.

The mental challenge of unraveling a diagnosis, and seeing improvement in myself as I polished my skills and gradually memorized procedures, appeals to me as a former worker who has grown familiar with the work and responsibilities of EMS. I also seek to challenge myself within this line of work while also balancing my own life. Being a mentor for the influx of new workers also breathed life and joy into my work. There was something beautiful and exciting about being able to pass on my love for EMS, to teach the residents my work, to offer help and tips that would have benefited me as a trainee. I loved being a helping hand and welcoming others into the faction, sharing knowledge and being a support for them.

I loved the dynamic workplace that EMS could be, ranging from housing emergency crises and traumatic injuries that required fast response, the rush hours that were admittedly stressful but rewarding when all patients were dealt with, the quiet and the tense moments with patients in an emotionally-charged roleplay scenario, and the silly and engaging roleplay that I would often have with fellow hospital workers (the workplace drama and romance was always so funny (to me)). EMS had the balance of action and involvement, being able to delve into personal experiences within roleplay and foster relationships with various patients that would come in, along with the coworkers. We were balancing procedure and personal roleplay, exploring the nuances of the workplace playground we were given and shaping our characters through this environment.

My motivation for applying stems largely from my love for this part of the community, for friendships I’ve made that have lasted several years now. I crave for that reconnection and connection, with familiar faces and new alike, and that feeling of belonging that welcomed me into the faction over two years ago. I want to strengthen community bonds and generally just be a friendly face to others, to bring energy and warmth to the faction, encouraging more inclusive play and social interactions both in-character and out of character. One of my faves was to engage in spontaneous, random roleplay with other workers in the off hours… I remember I lost almost 100k just to pay the hospital workers for doing an ABC chain without mistakes (RIP) and playing games to encourage interaction and roleplay among the staff (inspired by cloud_divider and my time at KPD!). I will forever cherish my past time in EMS and the friends I made, the memories that continue to hold a special place in my heart… and I hope to be able to make just as many if not more special memories yet again in EMS.

Admittedly, before I resigned, I allowed myself to become extremely burnt out. The spark that I carried for EMS had fizzled out, and I found myself struggling to dedicate to work that had become monotonous to me. I took the time to reflect on my previous mistakes and what led to such a massive burnout, and gained a better understanding of the need for a balance between roleplay and my personal wellbeing. I’ve since learned how to better deal with my burnout and to pace myself rather than overcommitting to things and continually draining my already-dry well of energy. I wish to return with a rekindled passion for this faction, after taking a break from this avenue of work to focus on other areas of roleplay that will help me approach EMS with a fresh perspective and knowledge of the dedication necessary to commit to consistency over a long period of time. For me, applying is an opportunity to return with a broader sense of awareness, both for the faction and myself, with renewed dedication, and a more focused sense of purpose - a desire to engage and gradually bring about good for the faction.

Which role are you applying for?
Doctor!
Forever my fave. I would apply for Psychiatrist, something new for me- since I also believe myself capable of performing well in that role, but I very much miss my doctor work.

What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?
Each of the departments are capable of triaging patients and providing basic patient care to those in need, whether for simple injury or merely to help their fellow doctors set up for more complex procedures. They all can access the pharmacy, although certain prescriptions can only be written by specific departments (heh… I helped write the pharmacy information so I am knowledgeable on that too guysz). All departments can monitor a patient’s recovery and visit time. Additionally, they can assist patients at the front desk, answering questions, directing them as needed, or forwarding them to the correct department for treatment. Every department is expected to uphold a level of professionalism, as well as being aware and alert so that patients may be treated in a timely manner. Of course, workers must also be able to keep certain hospital information confidential.

Doctors focus on the physical aspect of patient care. Having been merged with the surgeon department a few years ago, their duties are numerous. They tend to traumatic injuries/wounds, such as fractures, burns, lacerations, etc. Doctors may perform both minor and major surgeries, ranging from performing simple sutures all the way to performing organ transplants and so forth. They are capable of doing diagnostic testing (i.e. x-rays, CT/MRI scans, blood work/lab testing, ultrasounds) and giving patients official diagnoses for their injuries, illnesses, any infections, or medical conditions. They are expected to educate their patients on the details of their health/illnesses, on the prevention of further complications, and their recovery, as well as offering treatment options best tailored to suit the patient’s needs and health. They may also intersect with the psychiatrist department if a patient’s physical state may be attributed to their mental well-being. Doctors often deal with emergency surgeries and fast-paced environments, which emphasizes the need for triaging, and they are capable of dealing with medical emergencies - the primary ones for doctors being respiratory arrest, heart attacks, and cardiac arrest. Lastly, they may perform morgue operations, which includes an autopsy, and the docqmentation and preparation of the deceased.

Psychiatrists focus on the mental aspect of patient care. They place a focus on diagnosing patients through the use of the DSM-5, and also offer therapy and counseling to provide patients with emotional support and advice in times of need. They may examine various parts of a patient’s life to assess their condition and any mental illnesses that may be ailing them. Psychiatrists provide a range of therapies for patients, including talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal therapy (IPT), etc. They may also offer group therapy to multiple patients, although it typically relies on the doctor’s preference. They often teach patients more healthy ways of coping if necessary, as well as encouraging them to learn how to handle their emotional state and problems independently of therapy through forming healthy habits. Another duty of psychiatrists is performing psychiatrist evaluations - primarily for the police force, in order to gauge how fit they are to handle the high-stress environment of working in Karakura. In the past, these used to be required of hospital workers as well. Lastly, psychiatrists are trained to handle psychological emergencies like panic attacks, manic episodes, and violent patients.

Paramedics have a slight blend of doctor and psychiatrist work, although they typically do not delve as deep into the treatment as the departments do. Paramedics are the first responders to a scene, assessing the state of a patient and providing emergency care if necessary through the ABCD assessment. They are trained to safely and swiftly transport patients from alternate locations back to the hospital for extended treatment, as well as to triage patients and determine the severity of their injuries. Paramedics are also able to handle the same psychological emergencies and physical emergencies as psychiatrists and doctors. If a needed department is not available or responsive to broadcasts, then paramedics are permitted to step in for treatment if they are qualified by their previous department’s training.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
Yes. I am aware that if training is held whilst I am online, I am expected to attend or face punishment.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY

What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

Rheumatology!
But... What exactly is rheumatology? Well, rheumatology is the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions, though its main focus is on inflammation and its effects on joints and ligaments, bones, and muscles. Jiĕfàng chose this particular focus due to her personal struggles with rheumatic symptoms. She grew up with a mild form of hypermobile Ehler-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), which is an inherited disorder in the connective tissues that results in joint hypermobility, joint instability, and chronic pain. However, in recent years during her time at KPD, she experienced a number of traumatic injuries that deteriorated her condition further - affecting her muscles and joints due to the wounds she suffered - and reduced her ability to perform up to physical standard in the force. Since then, she has dived into learning and researching further on how to properly treat and care for her condition, while also striving to aid others with similar conditions and help them live as normally and comfortably as possible. Her firsthand experience gives her a deeper understanding and empathy for those struggling with invisible pains and conditions, and she wishes to be a support where she once lacked it. In choosing rheumatology as her specialty and gaining medical skill and knowledge on her condition, she feels she is able to better comprehend and care for herself, as she wants to prevent her condition from worsening further. Especially considering her current physical limitations, she had to let go of her dream of becoming an officer and being a hero to others… to instead redirect her focus, and to be a hero in a different way - by saving lives as a medical professional.

She also has a budding interest in orthopedic surgery, forensic pathology, and trauma surgery!! Her interest in orthopedic surgery also revolves around her condition, as orthopedics also focuses on the musculoskeletal system, and she has a fascination for fractures (gruesome as it may be, compounds are her favorite). Her interest in forensic pathology (cliché, I know) stems from her past work as a detective. After all, she loves investigating, solving complex mysteries and puzzles with a deep, rich story… and forensic pathology happens to be the medical equivalent of that! She isn’t extremely fond of corpses though, but she does miss working alongside the police force. It was once her home, after all. As for trauma surgery… She misses the rush and the pressure of her work back as an officer, of helping citizens and saving lives. What better way to do that in the medical field than to be on the front lines for an emergency? Well, secondary to paramedics, of course.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
Not necessarily medical positions in the way of doctor work, but she worked for some time as an emergency services dispatcher when she was still in college to study criminology and criminal justice, which exposed her early to the concept of triaging and responding to emergencies. She also had exposure to medical work in her time as an officer, as it occasionally required collaboration between the police department and the hospital. After resigning, she took up a part time job as a research assistant - aiding in clinical studies and managing the database and reports - and volunteered at clinics that focused on treating chronic pain, while still in medical school.
TLDR; she stayed hella busy and exposed herself to the medical field often.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

shotsfired (1).pnguridol (1).png
art by urs truly xo

Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?
Her disarming presence is introduced by the soft, subtle scent of apple cider and cashmere; a scent that transports one back to a time of playful naïve youth, leaping into piles of fallen leaves, nursing cider by a fireplace and pulling mittens over hands to keep out the creeping cold. Upon first glance: her body is marred by numerous scars, most carrying the weight of an experience riddled with agony, gut-wrenching terror, and a sense of duty that burned through the rest. Jagged claw marks healed thin and pale, with strangely-formed dashes skipping over freckled, sunkissed skin; all scars and markings were displayed without extravagance nor shame, a mere statement of fact, like the words on a page... simply existing. A milky, cloudy sheen discolors one of her irises, though the other retains a warm, rich mahogany hue; her gaze is clean and sharp as a sterile scalpel, cool as the gunmetal she once wielded. Auburn waves coil around her shoulders like a woolen shawl, soft but protective; cherry hues run in subtle highlights through her mane. She stands tall, head held high, posture straight as an arrow - her gait is deliberate yet stiff, steps measured and sure, footfalls light as a breath with a discreet limp. Her countenance- unexpressive, diluted, as a porcelain poker face. A glint of metal may be observed on her ears, speckled with piercings black and shiny as an oil spill; save for her earrings, the only jewelry she adorns is a tightly-woven holly and wormwood bracelet, with a polished Five Poisons charm.

How does your character act around the hospital?
Explorative, always seeking out something to do - a consultation, a job, a menial task, conversation. Even as she is dragged down by her disabilities, she continues to persist and march onward, ceaseless in spirit and mind. Although her poker-face rarely changes, as unexpressive as the visage on a dime, it is made up for in colorful lyricism and vivid gestures, in the waltzing lilt of musical tones and a dynamic voice… and her very, very expressive brows. She is always chasing interaction and aiming to converse with others, maintaining dutiful respect and adherence to policy while leaning into humor and playfulness. When not strictly confined to the lobby space, she often winds up in storage closets or the rooftop, both for solitude and- in the latter case- fresh air. She is familiar with having to uphold a standard of professionalism when in the public eye, having experience in the police force tucked under her belt.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Jiĕfàng has always functioned better with others, being a social creature in need of interaction- or else she would end up stagnating, as prolonged isolation slows her mental capacity and overall is detrimental to her wellbeing. It’s the people close to her that ground her to the earth. Apart from her need for connection, she also finds her creativity and working ability to flourish in the presence of others, as well as enjoying having someone to bounce ideas off of and theorize with - her imagination blossoms in conversation and back-and-forth dialogue. However, she is also largely independent, and enjoys being able to operate solo where she can tune her focus on a patient without having to stress and coordinate a team effort and rotating operations.
