Konyou Enatsu Daydreaming or something?

Let's be honest with ourselves for a second. How much time do we really spend on our classes? Half of the people don't show up, even if they say that they do. We never discuss what happens in the classes and just get along with our days like nothing happened. And then the times that people do show up, let's not pretend that we're actually focusing. Most of the time is spent whispering with whoever's sitting next to us and planning out the next drama-filled event at the school. I don't even want to get started about the people who are daydreaming, because I totally don't do that myself. What I'm trying to say is, there is always something more 'important' than class. Not naming anybody specifically, but it seems like some of us have entire essays' worth of dialogue just standing around, none of which was worth mentioning or using in class!

But hey, maybe that's just things work in Karakura. Academics don't seem to be important, and everyone is a bunch of certified yappers. We're all on our little side quests, acting like we are actually the main characters. You'd think the way people act around here is the basis for filming some sort of drama series, one that doesn't include the classrooms. Everyone has their own story, maybe a love story, or an interest in something random that appeared out of nowhere. And trust me, people will drop their entire supposed schedule just to sit under a tree and dramatically sigh about it for hours. The time in these parts just makes absolutely no sense!

Meanwhile, you have the poor teachers and professors doing their best to keep it together while the rest of us have our monologues about heartbreak or a fight outside of school. Half the time, I don't even know if I'm in school; it just feels like it's structured like a bunch of filler episodes leading to who knows what. And, I will be honest, I'm the kind of person who stays out of all of this, but that also means I go back on what I said about daydreaming.

Anyways, don't get me wrong about it, a lot of this drama is entertaining. It's kind of impressive that the amount of emotional damage held here is enough to fuel an entire, never-ending anime. At this point, Karakura High should probably come with a warning label for anybody willing to come to the island:

'CAUTION: May cause over-involvement in other people's business.'

People will walk into school and by lunch, would've already been betrayed, confessed to, or become best friends with an entirely new group. We, as students, are skipping classes just to have our special yap sessions, and then the scenarios that we do participate in the classroom seem to be only for the satisfaction of doing homework.

But, here's the thing, even with the chaotic and traumatic events only seen at a school like this, there's something kind of cool about it. This mess, as ridiculous as it seems, has a weird sense of community. Sure, in the end, not many people care about the classes they attend, but they do care about the people in them. Even if it's just to argue, tease, or cause some drama mid-conversation, there's still a clear connection between everyone. In some strange way, the chaotic energy isn't seen anywhere else; that's what's special about our home. I doubt people remember what the homework was the day before, but everyone remembers the awkward confrontations and love confessions.

So, while Karakura High might not be winning any awards for academics anytime soon, it is producing some of the most committed character arcs I've ever seen. And that has to mean something, am I right? Just don't ask me about what the current topics are in class, I genuinely have no clue.
