What's your suggestion?:
Please bring back alcohol, this was one of many ways rpers made money in game, fast, easy, and created funny stories and experiences for many. There were whole small communities that sold and bought alcohol and circulated It around the community and removing it, I noticed the game had become slightly more dull. Sure, roleplaying as drunk is fun as a substitute but overall the real effect in game was far better. My main issue with it is the lack of money circulating. Lots of new players and people like myself who aren’t on all the time can’t get in game jobs or roles due to being unavailable and the lack of money not only makes gameplay slightly harder, but also frustrating for the person roleplaying in which I noticed many old players quit SRP due to that. In addition, I think there should be part time jobs for all, like after school cleaners, something that is a voluntary. Just something for students who want to make fast cash, doesn’t take too long, and doesn’t require skill like tailoring, certain functions, and such.

There is a number of suggestions I have for SRP, this is just one of the issues I noticed the most, I would apply some screenshots of people commenting how much duller SRP now is but they prefer to be anonymous and their opinions not shared on this platform.

Other job suggestions or easy money:
-More quests!
-A hiring board in plaza, a place where people can pin up job offerings like, clean my apartment, babysit my child/pet, A emotional support buddy, just somewhere people can put up quests of their own.
-a shrine helper, someone that learns, experiences what it’s like to work in the shrine without being really part of it. (This could also apply to KPD, hospital, Gov, Shops, just a way for ppl to experience it without getting paid fully for their work.)
-A pest control quest maybe?

There just needs to be more ways to make money besides auction, working in game, fishing, or tailoring.

I would like to add to this that a lot of people commenting on this are only focusing on the alcohol part of it this suggestion. The in game item was a huge part of crimerp business, fun experiences and generally just helped circulate money. My main focus is on the need for additional jobs for new players, for players like myself, and just ways to keep the server entertaining without being repetitive and boring like fishing or auction. I wanted to bring this to attention by mentioning the alcohol removal, but not only that find a replacement perhaps like what SKShadowFlux commented. Not only that but getting into a faction is really hard and for people like me who aren’t always available cannot be part of one due to that fact, making it hard for me to make money and it creates a frustrating dynamic where I don’t have enough to pay for my apartment, food, fun items or buying stuff for my character’s partners or siblings.
I do see the point of EULA and I will admit I did not know the reason for alcohols removal from the game and after a little research I understand it to a certain point, but I feel that something should have been added in replacement for it. SRP is supposed to simulate real school life in a way, and admittedly, Alcohol, Drugs and all those things are part of high school life whether people want it or not. I wanted to address this for those who come to read this suggestion and hope you all understand that. I do understand Alcohol may not be added back but I still will hope it is eventually.

How will this benefit the server and community?:
It would make money circulation easier, funner roleplay experience and opportunities fair for everyone, including new players and possibly bring back old players. This issue should be addressed, I know it isn’t the biggest issue but it is important.

"give us more money or let me be an alcoholic" yknow what fair enough +1

SRP lacks valid opportunity. It's typically the same batch of people working across every shop, faction applications are fairly difficult I'd argue and most certainly not new player friendly (except for shrine speaking from experience), and fishing is both unreliable and boring. Something a little bit more engaging that lets you actually be involved in the city would be good.

Nah, with your chest this time. SRP has definitely gotten duller from when I left in 2022 to when I returned last October. The attitude seems to have shifted towards OOC into IC oriented RP (as in, OOC friend groups develop into IC friend groups, and so they only RP within themselves rather than RPing with others).
The removal of alcohol, as far as I am aware, was justified by EULA compliance, though someone has apparently gone through the EULA and found nothing of the sort. I doubt they would re-introduce alcohol given this history; however, I do lowkey prefer not having alcohol since it shows RPH is willing to protect the minors apart of the server (at least in one aspect...).
There was an excellent forum post a while ago called (paraphrased cause I don't remember the exact title) 'Why the RP in SRP is silent', which is 100% worth a thought.

With SRP's resistance to large updates, I doubt anything will (effectively) be done about the economy issues that plauge the server for new players.

I see your point in protecting minors and although I do agree with it. It does not affect them in game and I understand it may create an negative influence on said minors. But, if a minor is playing a roleplay server where they are exposed to people older than them as well as certain topics, they should understand the risks and be mature enough to handle such contents. Minors aren’t dumb, some yes, but a lot understand the risks and simply do not care. SRP has definitely been become more dull, over the years and needs change, something new and fresh outside of the usual small updates.

I. . . . lowkey agree here? I want there to be more business opportunities ICly on SRP, believe it or not.

Alcohol was a great way to roleplay and make money, surprisingly! It's what singlehandedly kept the Business side of the Crime faction going. Meetings about alcohol deals and setting the prices for those? You can have those. Standing in an alleyway and selling alcohol? Even going to parties to network there? Researching shops and buying out their entire alcohol stock? It was amazing.

Removing alcohol was a massive mistake. Even worse is that nothing was brought up to replace the niche it took within ICly businesses.

Hell, bring back alcohol and rename it to "silly juice" that gives you the percentage from the drunk plugin (conveniently renamed to something) if that's how you avoid legal trouble with EULA.

As for "minors being exposed to alcohol" bit, I would disagree. SRP has dealt with much darker topics than that to be a problem.

Any representations of Drug & Alcohol very much violates Minecraft's EULA and it's part of the reason why it's been removed. Now as fun as it can be for some people, my experiences with alcohol as a Teacher has been mostly negative. One such time someone distributed alcohol in my class (around 37 bottles worth) Kinyuun was with me at the time and it was a miserable. And when a grade 7 where to get drunk from there you have to make a ticket about it as grade 7-9 cannot be under the influence of alcohol (as it's an oocly rule that falls under CrimeRP). In addition to dealing with drunk students it's gotten to the point where many of my peers know me for being the one faculty who has to deal with the most drunk students, and it has quickly became one of my biggest pet peeves on SRP when alcohol was still around.

Overall there's a lot of risk ooc that alcohol has (whether it's players breaking SRP rules or going against MC's TOS) that I don't think it's worth having back indefinitely. While I do support having more jobs for newer players aside from fishing like lets say picking berries, Alcohol as a whole I believe shouldn't need a second comeback.

In Mojang Studios's EULA, there isn’t any rule that specifically bans references to alcohol. Instead, it focuses on broader guidelines, such as avoiding pay-to-win systems, not enabling gambling, and following general legal and safety standards.

Because of that, having alcohol as an in-game or roleplay item in Minecraft isn’t inherently against the rules, as long as it isn't tied to monetization or anything exploitative.

That said, considering a large portion of the player base is minors (myself included), removing it wasn’t a bad decision. I also agree with Randen, there are plenty of situations where it can become a hassle, especially for faculty members dealing with drunk students.

I’ve personally enjoyed having it as a feature and do miss it, which is why I think it could work if handled properly. But ultimately, that decision belongs to the server staff, not the players. It also shows the server is trying to be mindful of its younger community.

That being said, I do think something should’ve been added to replace it, since it played a pretty big role in CrimeRP.

From my experience, making money feels heavily tied to being in a faction. While it makes sense that faction members earn more, it’s gotten to the point where it feels like only faction members or very serious CrimeRP players, can consistently make money. On top of that, factions can be hard to get into as a newer player. It took me years to join my first one simply because I didn’t feel good enough.

I think the server would really benefit from more purely IC business opportunities. Right now, a lot of systems feel very OOC driven. While that makes sense for certain things like shops or faction management, it sometimes feels like OOC systems are overshadowing actual roleplay. The RP itself feels like it’s taken a backseat.

Ideas like a hiring board would be a great step in the right direction. Even smaller roles, like maids, cooks, or assistants should be encouraged! They give newer players a way to earn money, improve their roleplay skills, and find their place in the server.

I also think internships are a great idea. The hospital recently tried this, and it seemed to go well. Expanding that to other factions could really help.

Factions like Teaching, KPD, or Government could also offer opportunities for players to observe or shadow members. That kind of access would make factions feel more approachable and could encourage more people to get involved, which would improve the overall RP environment!

Overall, the server should focus more on supporting newer players. Right now, there aren’t many good ways for them to make money outside of things like fishing, and let’s be honest, that gets old fast. Encouraging more IC based business and opportunities would go a long way in making the server more engaging and accessible for everyone.

So, for me this is a...

+1!

Alcohol was removed for a reason; it goes against Minecraft's Terms of Service. Allowing alcohol in a game that is based around minors isn't the wisest idea.

Though I do agree with the more jobs part. It's quite difficult to get a job on SRP.
