List your current and past IC/OOC faction applications:
N/A, first time for everything!

Describe your activity on the server:
My activity on the server is fairly good. I, of course, do not slave my every waking hour away on SchoolRP but I do devote a majority of my free time to the server. Oftenly I bounce back and forth between school, my unpredictable part time job, and the digital world I keep at my fingertips. However, now that summer is finally here and I don’t plan on working crazy hours to keep my savings high, I have a lot more free time to fill in the upcoming months. I can only see the chance of my hours on SRP going from 2-5 a day to something likely a lot higher in the future.
Along with this predicted skyrocket in activity, I can see how the sense of community that comes with joining a faction can increase my hours on the game. I run off easily influenced motivation, and if I have people around me to put that extra skip in my step I see myself indulging a lot more of my time to the newfound duties I’ll be given.

What is your motivation for applying?:
I am very aware of my limits on a day to day basis. It’s very difficult for me to overwork myself, a breaking point is something I have hardly ever reached, yet I can’t say the same for underworking myself. If I don’t give myself enough things to do on a daily basis, I get frustrated with myself. I’m not the kind of person who can sit there and do nothing, that's why I see KPD as an opportunity to input a lot of that free time that could go to waste for the sake of myself. It’ll be good for me to have that foothold on my motivation.
Along with that, I know a handful of other applicants that I’ve been bouncing ideas off of for a little while now, as they have been doing with me as well. I know we are all hoping to progress into this faction together.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?
I could always be more versed in the workings of police work on SchoolRP, I assume that a majority of it will be covered in training. I am aware of the common laws that are enforced and broken and I have read up on official documents posted on the forums of the website. I’ve taken the time to compile all my knowledge.

DUTIES ON THE JOB
Arresting and/or detaining - Only done to a person who has broken a law or done something unlawful. Detainment is when an investigation surrounding the target's crimes are still being held while an arrest only takes place when the crimes were proven to be done by this individual.

Inmate care - Taking care of individuals who have been arrested or detained. This can be overseeing both physical activity or visitation, along with other things.

Front desk - This is where people go when they are seeking to make reports, pay bail, or just generally ask questions. It is the duty of an officer to be there for this.

Patrols - Done in groups while being supervised by a higher up, this is when officers walk around and survey crime hotspots and the streets of Karakura to ensure all is well.

Raids - When there is illegal weaponry in a criminals home, a raid can take place under the supervision of a higher up to retrieve the contraband.

POLICE EQUIPMENT
Police baton - A close range tool that is accessible to all officers. In combat, two successful blows to the head using this weapon knocks the combatant out. Caution must be taken, however, because this is a muggable object.

Handcuffs - An immediate range tool accessible and carried by all officers. This is a non-muggable tool that, when held, costs one action to detain and restrain a target.

Police radio - A waterproof tool that is used to keep communication with other officers with a working radio. This can not be used in combat in place of a weapon, nor can it be mugged. It can, however, be broken with an attack by a sharp or blunt weapon.

Stun blaster - A long range tool that is used to aid any officer that welds it in combat or chase. This blaster, when hitting a target, completely immobilizes them for a 60 OOC second count without needing a roll. This tool cannot be stolen.

Breathalyzer - A passive tool that can be used to correctly tell the level of intoxication of whoever blows into it. It is used by all officers and EMS workers, and the accuracy of this reading is better the closer to the police station it is. This is not to be used in combat and is non-muggable.

Pepper spray - A mid-range tool that has three charges. Its use is to blind a target, only after it is taken out via an action and successful roll. Another successful roll is needed to use the tool, blinding a target for 60 OOC seconds unless they are equipped with a gas mask. In the case that they are wearing a gas mask, the pepper spray has no effect. This item cannot be mugged.

Tranquilizer - A long range tool that is only accessible to Police Sergeants and Detective Inspectors. This tool is used to immobilize a threat for 2 OOC minutes. It cannot be mugged, but requires an action and a successful roll to be taken out in range, along with to reload its two dart capacity.

Riot shield - A fairly interesting, dual use, immediate range tool that is accessible to all officers. When held in the main-hand slot, this tool offers protection by neutralizing all attacks coming from the front or the side of the officer. However, when held in his defensive position the officer cannot carry any offensive items. It can be only used in offence to push a target out of range. When kept in the off-hand slot, the officer can wield an offensive item again only at the cost of losing the protection. It takes an action and a successful roll in order to swap the riot shield from the defensive to the offensive, and vice versa. It can be mugged only with the proper perms or if the officer falls unconscious.

Gas mask - A worn tool accessible to on-duty officers. When worn it protects the user from biological threats, such as pepper spray. It can be mugged with the proper permissions and a successful action and roll.

Crowbar - A tool only accessible to Police Corporals. This is used to pry open doors and containers if needed. It can be mugged with the proper permissions and a successful action and roll.

ITEM RP POLICE EQUIPMENT

Luminol spray - A tool used to illuminate blood stains unless they were properly washed using hydrogen peroxide or bleach and water. This item is non-muggable and accessible to all officers.

Disposable latex gloves - A tool carried by all officers on default. They are non-fingerprint-proof and cannot be mugged.

Fingerprint scanner - A tool accessible to all officers, used to scan a fingerprint and match it to target results if needed. It’s an easy way to match a suspect to a scene that's being investigated.

First-aid kit - A unique tool that is accessible to all officers. It is a small kit that is used to extend a bleed-out timer by 5 minutes when an ambulance or EMT is not available.

Body camera - Outfitted on all officers uniforms, this waterproof camera shares all the properties of CCTV from the officers perspective. All footage is stored on the cloud database. The camera can not be removed but can be broken with either two hits from a blunt force weapon or one hit from a sharp weapon.

POLICE VEHICLES

Police Cruiser

Police Motorbike

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?
SchoolRP offers the option to put your character in the world of gangs and crime. Many people take this opportunity in order to keep themselves entertained and to create a complex story for their character. But in every good world there is balance. The Karakura Police Department is firmly established in order to uphold the law. With police work around the town, people who do not turn to a life of crime can feel safe on the streets. The police strive to protect and defend, along with snuffing out crime as it dares to emerge from the underground.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
I am very aware of the punishment and I will always make attendance my first priority.

Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?
Broad shouldered and wide armed, this man surely makes up for a lack in height with the muscle he carries on himself. He stands straight, his 5’9 frame holds a practiced posture that seems drilled into him. He leads a healthy lifestyle, his broad body type is made of a cushioned brawn. Jun’s brown hair is cropped shorter on the sides, the length at the top often being slicked back on the job, and tucked behind the thin frame arms of his glasses when he lets it down. Even his facial hair is well cared for! Keeping it full above his top lip and along his jawline, he hardly lets the stubble trail down his neck before it's time for another shave. He seems quite put together.
But there's signs of personality behind that manicured man, little snippets beyond who he let himself be perceived. Anywhere from the sparkle in his green eyes at the mention of certain topics to the pads of his thumbs remained bandaged all too often. No matter how he pushed all of it down, little beams of who he is always seemed to shine through the cracks. Was it for worse or for better?

ART DONE BY ME

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?
CASUAL
Sato is never afraid of a good conversation or a day out. He spends a lot of his free time, when he isn’t partaking in the strange hobbies he has picked up, out on the town. He isn’t extremely extroverted, however, as he prefers to listen and watch. He's a quiet man, but he isn’t shy. When he has the time he is always willing to lend a helping hand to a good friend whenever they are in need.

PROFESSIONAL
The sad look in the man's eyes diminishes completely when he's on the job. He thrives in a professional setting, it’s all too clear that work is his comfort zone. He doesn’t become all that much more talkative, but a certain edge is taken off. At work is where he is more likely to spark a conversation, most oftenly about the job at hand. He has learned that doing things on his own is a whole lot harder than getting a second opinion.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?
It took a long time for Jun to learn the importance of teamwork, maybe too long even. Still, rooted in him is the idea that anything can be a one man job if he just put his mind to it. Despite this, he is quick to help others the second that they need it, especially if they are working on the same staff.
He has respect and appreciation for everyone he works with, the unwavering kind that is difficult to break. It might just take some time and effort before he is ready to accept that he cannot do everything by himself.

What's your character's backstory?
CHILDHOOD
The Sato family was crowded, a cluster of unruly children packed together in a house designed for no more than four. Jun's mother always wanted a big family, and she was the kind of woman who got what she wanted no matter the poverty they experienced. This left him the second oldest of the grand total of seven children, five boys and only two girls.

His eldest brother, the only one born before him, was naturally the one everyone seemed to look up to. Daiki, his name, was as smooth as stone and as strong as steel. He always seemed to know right from wrong, and was always quick to defend his brothers and sisters. Everyone envied the will and the might of Daiki.
Then there was Emi, only being born 9 months after Jun. Like the tales of Artemis, no one wouldn’t be surprised if his younger sister had helped deliver herself! There was a drive in her like no other, one of nurture and unsolicited kindness. Every bumped elbow and sc****d knee would be followed by a pained cry to Emi. She was respected and loved, with the ability to outshine all else with a smile.

But where was he? Jun was stuck sandwiched in between siblings that were no short of heroes in his household. He couldn’t help but feel like he was pushed into the background, like a harsh shoulder nudge out of frame during a family photoshoot. He didn’t have the drive to fight, nor did he have the patience to love. Instead, what he devoted his early years to was writing. He had torn a piece of siding off of their home, much to his fathers dismay, and used it to create a makeshift writers desk in the room he shared with his three of his brothers. He was a bother, keeping them up during the night with a headlamp he snagged from a garage sale, but he didn’t seem to care. Jun studied novels, writing detailed reports on each one in different fonts each time. He focused on education, schooling, and the world around him.
Jun learned to be realistic, unlike a majority of his siblings. He was mature, understanding. There was a time when his birthday rolled around and his father sat him down in the den. The feeling of the working man’s hand on his shoulder was burned into his memories, and the words laced with bourbon rang in his ears. “Be something.” He had slurred the statement into the open air, thick with smoke and the scent of mold. The buzzing of the radiator that echoed through the walls was turned out by the young boy, freshly twelve years old. Those were the first words directly addressed to him and him alone in days. He savoured it like a gift, it might as well been for the only think he was given earlier that day to celebrate his big day was a cake, which he lost the rights to blow out the candles to a younger sibling, and a box of ticonderoga #2’s for school. His father didn’t end there. “It is a parent's role to set their child up for a better life than they had. We have faith in you, only you. You will not disappoint.” He spoke like there was no questioning his words. Jun sure knew not to question them anyway, instead letting that expectation weigh heavy like a rib cage made of lead. If that's what he had to do to finally make his mark, Jun wouldn’t hesitate a moment longer.

TEENAGE YEARS
It was only two years later when the worst series of events began to rain down on the Sato household. While at school, one of his younger siblings had caught some sort of devastating fever. He was home sick for weeks, and eventually spread the illness to the youngest child. He was the final son of his mother, not even two years old yet, and he was hospitalized for months as he fought for his premature life.
In this time, an assault was targeted on poor Emi, his younger sister. The girl with a heart too big for this world was left shattered, caught up in the legalities of court as she fought the man who had destroyed her. No one knew what to do, Emi was supposed to be the one there for people. How was the family expected to support each other when she was the backbone?
But the thing about bad things, they come in threes. Midways through the chaos and sleepless nights filled with arguments and wails, the effects that shook the household eventually made their way to the Sato patriarch. Their father lost his job in an industry run by inconsiderate corporations. He spent his work days bouncing from bar to bar, avoiding the harsh conversation that was to come. It never happened, the closure was never granted from the whiskey stained lips of his father. Instead, he made the mistake of getting into a bar fight with the wrong man. His father was always quick witted when it came to a quarrel, but the flick of a concealed knife could always be quicker. He returned home weeks later in a decorated jar of ashes.

Jun Sato needed to be something, he knew it now. A life better lived than his father was a low bar, but Jun never settled for the bare minimum. He threw himself in his studies, leaving his fingers constantly stained with ink from the notes he slaved away at. He wanted to make a change. Here is where he began to plan his life, or at least make an attempt. Criminal justice, law, protection of the weak. Each thing could’ve helped his family in such a horrible time. He wanted to serve justice, if only he could map out the right reality. If only he could predict each little aspect of his life in order to govern over it, to control and prepare for the unexpected.

He was striving for the impossible. Sure, his grades skyrocketed and any doubts of him pursuing the education washed away. But there was no predicting how the world spun around him. He had the tendency to blur the faces in the passing crowd, ignoring them in a ‘if I can't see them they can't see me’ sort of fashion. But it wasn’t long before one recurring blur proceeded to get in his way at every turn. She took the same classes as him, butting heads when it came to everything academic. She was the beautiful rock in his shoe, Noriko Takano. He didn’t take her to be more than a struggle to overcome, someone to pass as soon as he had figured out the right formula to life. But she didn’t leave his mind. Each conversation they had, no matter the topic or the depth, sent his thoughts into a spiral. He wanted to know more of her, to have her by his side during the struggle through the world. It wasn’t long before he mustered up enough courage to ask her out.

ADULTHOOD
The year between their graduation and the beginning of college is when he married his highschool sweetheart. The preparation was nothing short of a test of patience, a sample of their future married life. Jun was not planning on backing down on this. He was in love, what more was there to say?

They studied at the same school, practicing criminal justice side by side. He didn’t mind the pressure that weighed on each of the shoulders, he understood the distance that fell between them during exam seasons and after rough lectures. He was busy too, working a part time job to keep them afloat alongside his own education. For a while, it had him feeling like superman. Every day he woke up and carried his world on his shoulders like Atlas. The bliss didn’t last long, nothing was forever.
When Noriko revealed her pregnancy, Jun didn’t know what to do. He had struggled to raise four younger siblings, in his book he had failed them, putting his future above theirs. He didn’t want to go through it all again. But he couldn’t dwell on the past, he learned that quickly, he could only prepare for the future. He took what little time he had between school and work, visiting hardware stores and watching tutorials. Noriko had left him alone in their apartment for a handful of days, giving him enough time to begin to craft a crib for the new Sato on the way.

When Ayako was born, Jun was only given another reason to make the world a better place. When he cradled his daughter, he was met with the overwhelming desire to keep her safe. On the police force was the only way he saw himself dismissing the evils in the world, the only way he saw himself paving the way for his daughter to grow up and live a life better than his own. He got active, all in preparation for bettering his family's life as soon as he finished his schooling.
He felt like his first failure to uphold this wish was when the doctors diagnosed Ayako with hearing loss. He wasn’t aware that the same condition had run in his bloodline until he had come home to his mother with the news. Just by being his child, Ayako was already given a handicap in the world. He wouldn’t let this stray in his relationship with his family, instead he devoted more of his time to learning JSL for her. It was finally something for him and his wife to do together, something to fill the awkward gap between them.

But as she grew, the weight he had so confidently carried on his shoulders began to make his knees buckle. Here he was, tied up with fatherhood and a married life, while trying to make a living for them and keep up with schooling. His distance was a clear sign that Jun had slipped into darkness. He was struggling, desperate, looking for an easier solution for everything. Such a hardworking man crumbled in an instant, and unfortunately fell into the hands of Yasu Ishibashi. She was a woman in his classes, someone who flew above the rest, someone that everyone didn’t have a choice but to look up to. And she had developed a special fondness for the poor man down on his luck. They drew closer than they should, and Jun was quick to exploit this. During the times she had opened her doors to him, he used this opportunity to steal notes and take pictures of the work she had done during lectures. This was what he was praying for, a way out of one of his stressors. He didn’t need to attend every lecture if he let Yasu stay so close to him. It couldn’t last though. He knew what he was doing was wrong, he knew he had to come clean.

It took him too long, months really. He was embarrassed, angry, tense with anxiety that had riddled him his entire life. In one afternoon, he had spilled each of his worries and woes onto his wife. He didn’t expect her to take it well, but he didn’t know anything more than that. One day he was struggling, but still had a loving family to return home to. The next day, he was on his own.
Noriko had kicked him out, keeping him from her and Ayako. He felt as if his entire identity was stripped from him in a night, and there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t blame his wife as she filed for divorce, he couldn’t claw his way back to the home he had built for himself and his loved ones. He finally had the only thing he ever wanted, time. It was only at such a horrible cost.

CURRENT
Jun did whatever he could to numb the guilt and dread that lingered in him, while also maintaining his health and grades. He graduated with a PHD in criminal justice, taking time off to get some money in his bank account. Like his father, he took up labour. Jun got fit, well into shape. It was like a healthy distraction for him, something to look forward to at the end of the day.
Nothing compared to the upcoming weekends, however. He had come to an agreement with Noriko, letting him see his daughter those two odd days out of the week. No matter how much money he had in his account, he kept a good amount aside for outings with Ayako. She was the light of his life, a reminder of when times were better. Jun would always make sure she felt loved in his care.

Now that he felt qualified, he turned his attention to that lifelong goal. Jun was going to make the world a better place, so he applied for the police force.

General knowledge (ANSWERED IN CHARACTER)

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
“No, no you cannot. Arming yourself in that sort of way is against the law in Karakura and can leave you with a fine.”

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
“Right, let's see. Both glasses for ¥4,000 and eye patches for ¥5,000 are prescription free, along with multivitamins priced at ¥3,500, melatonin priced at ¥3,000, and finally iron supplements priced at ¥2,500. All can be obtained at that nice little shop inside the hospital.”

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
“Well right away I’d prioritize separation between these two parties. It would be irresponsible for me to leave them together, let alone allowing this situation to go unreported. Of course I would then seek out attendance with a higher up and explain the situation from my point of view.”

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
“I don’t like to see others get pushed around, very less assaulted. I can see myself getting in the way of this situation, aiming to neutralize the threat before it gets out of hand. I’d also make my colleagues aware of the situation, I wouldn’t intend on handling it alone. Before I let myself rest, I’ll ensure that my co-worker is safe and has been seen by a medical team.”

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
“God, I’d never really want to pray for someone's downfall but an officer working with the scum that we are supposed to be suppressing is unreal! I’d attempt to have a conversation with them first, part of me will hope that whatever they are doing is not their choice. No matter their answer, this will be brought up as soon as I can speak to a higher up. This is a plague that needs to be isolated before it can spread.”

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
“No matter the scenario this sort of situation takes place in, I am not one to ruin my life over a bribe. I’ve learned my lesson quite well. If the criminal isn’t already detained, I will be sure to make sure that is in order. I will warn others about the nature of this criminal to be sure none of my coworkers also fall victim to this trap. I will also make sure that this attempted bribery goes documented on file.”
