How is one meant to get back into SRP after like half a year of on and off inactivity???

im wondering the same thing too unfortunately, i want to come back but im afraid i might log off once again
i think my main issue is that i dont have many people to rp with and staying dedicated to the rps.

I'd be happy to rp with either one of you (I am in a burnt out stage of playing this game and need more people to play with too)

I came back after a year of completely leaving everything in SRP. I decided to bring my characters back instead of creating another one. You will be fine. My character lost almost all his friends, and sure, I had to rebuild that sense of trust with some of them. Not everything stayed the same, and that's depicted in my characters as well. It is an experience, that's for sure. For me, it's a good one. You get to see things differently, especially after being absent for quite some time. You can have that experience of learning about new things, just like we did when we were greenies and knew nothing. That alone is great, since when I was here, I was so accustomed to how things ran, to how things were, the buildings, the people. When I came back, Karakura was another place. It was not the place I remembered. That was something I liked.

The one thing I did, and I knew I had to do cause otherwise I would be just demotivated, was join a Faction. For any of you, it can be really anything, a gang, a shop, something; you need a community for sure. Otherwise, you will feel stranded, especially if your friends don't roleplay anymore.

Getting back will be a complicated process. We all will manage.

honestly i might have to bring back my teacher char "Andre Duvalier" as an adult just to feel reconnected again too AND join a faction.

I've taken yearlong breaks multiple times! Ever since like, 2022 or 2021, I don't remember when I first started, haha! But after every break I always come back, because SRP for me is like, my comfort space!

After my first year long break, nobody I knew was there, and frankly, I was glad (they were all so toxic). It took me a while to make new friends, but I ended up making a whole new friend group! It's super easy in my opinion to make friends on SRP because people are on to... roleplay (believe it or not) and meet new people just like you are! So, I wouldn't overthink it, because a lot of people are thinking about the same things you are.

It can be difficult to not put SRP down, especially after a long break like yours, but that is why you go into it gradually! Like, when I got back into it like, two or three months ago (man, I am so bad at dates) I was mainly afking in plaza, and fishing in the forest! And here I am... playing almost daily, though I've been taking a break due to my EYES HURTING BRO. Also, I recommend just fishing in the forest and talking to other people, because so far in my experience they're really nice!

Joining a faction! I've recently joined the teaching faction and let me tell you... THEY ARE SOME OF THE NICEST FREAKING PEOPLE OML I LOVE YOU ALL!!! It's easy to join a faction such as teaching if you know what you are doing and apply at the right time! And it doesn't even have to be teaching! Like, I think teaching is the best if you've been inactive for that long because it's super easy! It gets you connected with others really quick too!

About possibly keeping your character. I've had one of mine for about three years, but I've recently kind of... REPLACED HER! MWAHAHAHAHHA. I say try to keep your character unless you actually don't like roleplaying them, like I thought my character was cringe... But keeping your character can be fun, especially if they have a lot of lore!

ALSO WELCOME BACK TO SRP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently came back (~a month ago) after quitting in 2022. My experience with RP was shattered in 2022; a lot of OOC to IC against me/my character that just soured my view on SRP. When I joined, I continued to use my OG character - I would openly say the RP on her was not the best. There are highlights, but it was generally just small interactions here and there.

I then decided to make a new character and force myself to do a 180 in personality I roleplay - Piper is shy, Ayako is outgoing; Piper is a people-pleaser, Ayako will find all your buttons and push them, etc. In doing this, I've found more enjoyment trying to build up the character and figure out how to type, action, etc to express her correctly.

I think Ayako/myself also completely fluked into a group - random RP with one user led to her meeting a bunch of people, and led her onto a sports team (I'm saying this ICly cause it was completely not an OOC choice initially lol). Now I have a decent group to RP with, and truly work on flushing out Ayako's personality and quirks. (If any of you see this - I apologize for not being the best at RP, 3 years of rust and a complete 180 does that lol)

As others have pointed out, try and find a faction that'd fit your character and apply/tryout for it - it's an easy way to find meaning in logging onto the server.
