What is your Minecraft username?:
BusinessRP

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):
businessrp

What is your time zone?:
CST

Describe your activity on the server:
I primarily find myself actively participating in FamilyRP and GangRP, through SchoolRP, and through these two, I’ve found that I enjoy being around people and interacting with others.

Much of my roleplay revolves around detailed actions and coherent communication with people. I love DetailRP and crave creating and developing lore with others' characters.

Part of my DetailRP includes a great deal of CookingRP. I love to create roleplay family dinners and create dishes with others, it adds a nice familial touch to the storytelling and can be quite humorous when things take an unexpected turn (Like a tortilla burning, or a kitchen accident!). Being a Mexican-American, I come from a closely-knit family that values a lot of cooking traditions and culture. I love to cook in real life, and I often find myself making dishes like Cabrito and Pozole for my family (two of my personal favorites). Through my personal heritage, I want to encourage more apparent food culture and diversity on SchoolRP through my creative and intuitive roleplay interactions.

As for my schedule, I’m fairly free most days and will notify people beforehand if changes are needed to accommodate sudden events or unplanned mishaps. I like to go by the motto that “My time is your time.”

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
I acknowledge and accept.

School Employee Role you are applying for?:
Chef.

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:

The Chef employee plays an important role in SchoolRP. No school is complete without a cafeteria, and no cafeteria is complete without its chef(s). Chefs are the backbone of cafeteria roleplay in SchoolRP. Students line up every day, expecting a tray of food and opportunities to roleplay with others and converse during breakfast and lunch. By providing food, chefs make that kind of RP possible among players in both high school and college. While it is true that the primary role of a chef is to provide nutrition for the students, outside of that, chefs have an obligation to assist alongside counselors and caretakers when appropriate. Enforcing school rules when needed and taking care of disciplinary action when it's necessary. With this in mind, they also have the authority and discretion to hand out and oversee detentions among students. In summary, chefs play a diverse role that includes not only culinary practice, but also regular educator duties that make SchoolRP a more interactive and roleplay-oriented environment that people can appreciate.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:

I have a tremendous amount of roleplay experience in FamilyRP, CookingRP, and GangRP, as mentioned before. As an active member of the Satormori family and former Domen family, I have a strong sense of familial roleplay and close-knit dynamics in the familyRP community. I’ve helped plan events for the Satomori family and assisted in creating lore for the group. In addition, my experience in GangRP goes hand-in-hand with this, as I’ve started multiple gangs in the past, all primarily family-oriented and heavily roleplay-focused. I have extensive experience in CookingRP and DetailRP, as I’m almost always doing so during family events and roleplay situations. With this in mind, I’m ready to try a new roleplay experience in SchoolRP and expand my RP palette as a chef into the school employee faction.

Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:

My interest in joining the School Employee faction as a chef is mainly from my own Mexican-American heritage, which I mentioned before, and heavily influences my CookingRP. A lot of the cooking roleplay I do incorporates elements of my Mexican culture, such as traditional techniques for preparing food, cultural dishes, and food customs that I usually follow in real life. And I want to be able to share my cultural identity and uniqueness through roleplay on SRP. I believe it would bring a distinctive ethnic background to the server, in which it could find more representation for itself on SRP. My passion for cooking in real life as well as my heritage are two major factors that I want to share with others through working as a chef in the School Employee Faction. Through this, I want to shed a brighter light on the importance on cuisine culture in SRP and self-identity & individuality through food.

Situations

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:

Being a chef requires a great deal of skill in culinary arts, but also a mastery of patience. Jose is not quick to anger; instead, he would offer a polite understanding. He knows that students aren’t exactly the most understanding and can be obstinate about their opinions at times. But that doesn’t stop him from seeing this as an opportunity to correct and provide a new perspective for the said student, rather than chastise them for being disrespectful. If the student were to persist, he would then be compelled to hand out some sort of punishment. Although he is kind to many of his peers, he will not stand idly by and take that kind of disrespect. When faced with having to choose between his kindness and his work duty, he is inclined to fulfill his job as both a chef and an educator.

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:

When coming across conflict, Jose will spend a few precious seconds first ****yzing the situation and then acting on the information present. While he believes in resolving conflict with haste, he takes an ****ytical approach to doing so. He would first radio others of the location of the event and what's going on. Thinking first before acting allows him to more effectively handle the situation as he separates the two students. He would then first inspect the pair’s injuries after separating them. Once he has taken note of the damage and brought them to the nurse’s office, he’ll ask both sides for their point of view on what happened. Afterwards, he would request CCTV footage to receive confirmation of the timelines he was given by both students to thoroughly decide an appropriate punishment. Instead of berating the pair for fighting, he would, in this sense, try to understand the motives as to why the fight started, who started it, and how it escalated in the first place. Once a punishment has been administered, he would personally come after school to monitor the perpetrator(s) in detention.

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:

If Jose notices that a school employee is acting inappropriately on the job, he would most certainly be surprised by the event, but instead of confronting them about it then and there. He would discreetly pull them aside in an attempt to understand why they did such a thing, and if there was more context to it as such. While Jose does firmly believe it's in an educator's duty to confront wrongdoing, he does not think it is right to openly call them out on it, instead preferring to quietly ask them about their behavior to not draw attention. Jose would then ask that they cease the inappropriate behavior and return to work. If it is especially severe, he would request that they apologize to their head of department or an SLT for their conduct. Through this, he can effectively correct their actions for the future, rather than humiliate them for it in the present.

When in the employee break room, how does your character act?

His older brother Seohyun once said: The Satormoi family thrives on openness and communication. As it's commonly joked about in the family, the family’s extrovertedness seems to just “run in the genes.” However, Jose was always the outlier; rather than inheriting the typical extroverted trait of the family members, he was more reserved and quiet than the others. Jose’s personality can be considered more ambivert than anything else. At times, he feels he can be extroverted and outgoing, and other times, he’d rather just keep to himself. However, that doesn’t stop him from communicating with his colleagues in the break room. He understands the importance of communication among educators in a complex environment like school; moreover, he values forming relationships with people whom he can trust and see as close friends, too. He would use the break room as an opportunity to discover people around him who he could consider more than just coworkers of that sort.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:

/me The man would put on an apron and chef’s hat as he stared at the glamorous cafeteria kitchen. He checked the time on his watch; it was twenty minutes to the dismissal bell of the third period. Jose would pick up the spatula, caressing the end of it before he exhaled quietly. It was his time to shine. “Let’s get cooking.” He would splash a pale of oil onto the frying pan as he grabbed a bowl of raw meat from the other end of the counter. Using the oil, he would evenly spread it as he laid the meat onto the oily pan, allowing it to sear for a good few minutes. Then, he would grab tortilla strips as he laid them out on a separate plater, “Time to fold these!” He would then masterfully use the spatula to evenly lay out equal amounts of meat in each tortilla as he folded every single one of them right afterwards. At the end of it, he would have multiple meaty tacos ready to serve as the bell rung and students came charging in!

/me Jose finished arranging all of the lunch trays as he looked over to the ever-growing line of students in his cafeteria, he would breath in. . .and breathe out as he announced the food options for the day. The students came packing up to his stand as he swiftly handed trays out one by one, he would drone out the words: “Fried rice or tacos?” Again, again, and again. By the end of it all, he had handed out a total of two-hundred and fifty-three trays worth of fried rice and tacos. He cleaned his hands in the sink as he wiped a sweat drop from his brow. He had completed another day’s work of being the chef! He sighed gently as he sat down in a chair, enjoying the personal tray of food he had prepared for himself earlier. The alarm he had set on his phone blared, signaling him to get back to work. He sighed once more before putting the food done and preparing the meals for tomorrow. . .

/me He set down a chopping board on the counter as he put on latex gloves, he would carefully wash the vegetables in the kitchen sink before turning back to the wooden board. With his knife in hand, he would lean forwards as he precisely measured the thickness of the cut he intended to perform. In the blink of an eye, he immediately proceeded to cut the tomato into identical partitions of eight as he made quick work of the residue and swiped it into the pan next to the cutting board. Then, he would grab a pinch of onion as he tossed it in the soup, afterwards he would smash garlic into small pieces as he threw into the soup with haste. Next, he would grab the pre-done blackened roasted peppers and rice as he cooked in into the soup. Lastly, he would prepare multiple empty soup bowls as he evenly poured the contents into each one. He slowly closed his eyes as he opened once more, allowing a small smile to appear alongside a comment “Jamie Oliver Mexican Tomato Soup!”

Backstory

Jose was born in the bustling capital of Seoul, Korea. Being from an academically distinguished family, the young Jose was expected to perform his duties as an excellent student for the family. Being forced to study copious amounts of academics, sciences, and other courses, Jose was never given the opportunity to explore his own passions and interests. His older brother Seohyun, did not make things any easier, he was the perfect veritable image of academic pedagogy in the family, and Jose was constantly compared to him.

However, Jose was never particularly fond of traditional academics. He had always held a passion for culinary, especially his mother’s Hispanic side of food culture. With the little time he had outside of cram school, studying, and other extracurriculars, he found himself absorbed in the family kitchen cooking from old cook books, online videos, and most of all, finding his identity in Hispanic food culture. It wasn’t until his entrance to Korea university, where he was able to finally branch out and explore his real passion: cooking. Against his parent’s judgement, he decided to major in Culinary Arts & Gastronomy.

His father was furious with the decision and was only appeased when Jose promised to study Business Administration as a minor. In his time at Korea University, he studied hard, mastering not only the cuisine techniques of Korean culture; but also incorporating large parts of Hispanic cuisine into his works. When he graduated, he started his career as a professional chef in Mingles, a three-star Michelin restaurant located in Seoul, Cheongdam-dong. The environment blended traditional Korean flavors with modern techniques, featuring dishes like hanwoo beef and seasonal tasting menus.

However, he brought a new perspective on food to the Korean atmosphere, rather than just combining Korean techniques with modern technology. He blended traditional Hispanic cooking culture with the vibrancy of Korean food, creating a whole new taste in the Korean food scene. His work become insanely popular overnight on social media, people photo’d his dishes and referred them online. His Korean-Hispanic cuisine become a huge hit and he soon started his own restaurant shortly after called: “Jose’s Korea”. From there, he expanded his reputation as a chef in Korea and built a business branding around his unique cooking style.

Ultimately retiring from the high-stress environment, he decided to follow his brother’s footsteps, and too, moved to Karakura, Japan. From there, he applied to the school for a job as a chef. With his background and prestige as a professional chef in Korea, he easily landed the position and began to work his magic. Once, he had served food to clients and judges of his cuisine. Now, he serves Korean-Hispanic cuisine to the students of Karakura.

Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):

As for my motivation for joining KHS, I’m determined to not only follow a similar career path as my brother Seohyun did. But I’m also inclined to showcase a new and innovative cuisine to the students of the town of Karakura. Food not only tastes good, it empowers, captures, and marks the very essence of the human evolutionary spirit. Food will improve the lives of students, as it did for mine. The taste of a certain dish can leave a profound impact on one’s perspective not only in cuisine, but also their livelihoods as a whole. I firmly believe that the introduction of not only good, but creative food into one’s life is an absolute must for individuality. The opportunity to work along other esteemed chefs who I will be able to share my creations with for the students of Karakura excites me to my core.

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:

My background as a famous professional chef in Korea speaks for itself, my introduction of Korean-Hispanic cuisine is a testament to my identity as a chef. I’m not just a chef who operates with known formulas and recipes, I create, invent, and innovate new food. My everchanging menus, concepts, and masterpieces are the physical embodiment of my commitment to creating unique food. My motto is "Non sibi," or, translated: "Not for one's self." I don't cook for the satisfaction of my own taste buds. Instead, I make meals for the happiness of others. Knowing that creativity through food can and will empower the next generation. My former background also commands respect for others, I’m easy to work with, and will accept criticism from sources of any reputable kind. I once worked with a team of professional chefs in Korea, and I’m now ready to join the team of Karakura chefs here in Japan. In order to continue spreading creativity and self-identity through food.
