AngryPanda101's / Millie 'Aunty Mill's' Takahashi Chef Application

Out-Of-Character Information

What is your Minecraft username?:
AngryPanda101

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):
AngryPanda101

What is your time zone?:
Central Standard Time (CST)

Describe your activity on the server:
I would say I get on relatively often. Usually multiple times a week for multiple hours per session. I’m usually pretty good at finding roleplay opportunities or situations to fit myself into! I also just generally have a lot of free time within SRP as I’m not currently part of any factions, teams, or clubs! I want to be though, which is of course why I’m applying!

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Yes

School Employee Role you are applying for?:
Chef

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:

A chef can be described as a person who cooks professionally. However I believe chef's are also people who understand the day to day nutritional necessities that keep a person happy, healthy, and strong.
In a more realistic view that pertains to what would be more likely in the server is an employee who is able to not only remain responsible and professional around others whether it'd be students or fellow faculty to hand out 2 courses of meals throughout the day (breakfast and lunch) as well as the sustain the responsibility of preparing.
While outside the kitchen a chefs role is like any other school faculty member's. Hand out detentions when warranted, patrol the school, and advise afternoon detention when its required.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
I have quite a bit of experience in roleplay, while I was only introduced to SRP last May, I have always been drawn to different roleplay communities. Such as previous Minecraft servers, roleplaying with my best friend, or even Roblox-related when I was a kid. Roleplay has been a significant part of my life growing up, especially since a lot of the content I consumed was heavily roleplay-centric, such as Aphmau’s old videos or other popular content. Which was why I had an interest in joining SRP in the first place! I remember wanting to a few years back as well, but never did, just due to being much younger and having school in real life and other priorities.

Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
I want to join the school faction because I feel like I’m ready to expand to different roleplay opportunities than just being a student can grant me. I’ve only been playing for a little while, but being a student hasn’t been getting me as interested and motivated lately.

I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time honing in on SRP’s roleplay style and understanding different situations and rules in-game. I’ve always wanted to be part of factions. Ever since I joined, I’d been eyeing a few that I wanted to be a part of eventually.

However, I chose the School Employee faction because I feel there are more opportunities for me that way. I want to make new friends within the faction because a lot of the people I’ve interacted with have been very kind, just in general. I can be good at finding roleplay opportunities, but being part of something that’s more organized and a group sounds like it would be really fun. I want to meet people and develop a new, fun character.

I’ve heard only good things about the School Employee faction since I joined, so it’s currently my top pick! People are relatively nice, it’s a lot easier to adapt to and understand, and it doesn’t move away from the school part of the server that I enjoy quite a bit.

What are your current role(s) on the server? (If you're college, specify your degree level):
High-School, and a handful of animal whitelists! No other special role

Situations
/*Do not mention use of FearRP*/

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:

Overall Millie would remain professional and calm letting the student finish their thought before for something like the following:

  • "Okay, hun, I understand you may be frustrated however name calling is ALWAYS unprompted"
If The Student Continues On
  • "Now sweetie, we’re getting disrespectful and while I want to understand where you are coming from I also will not accept hostility of any kind. This is just a small moment in time and let it wash over you."
  • She would also take them aside where they can be 1 on 1 to see if there is any bigger issue that the student needs help with as well as offer a treat to help the student calm down.
If the Situation Continued to Escalate
  • She would call over a fellow employee or SLT over the radio explaining that a student is continuing to be disrespectful
She would also hand out a detention slip if the situation caused for it

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:

Before Millie says anything she will actively call for another faculty member if one is not already present. She will then explain what she knows of the situation and how it occurred.
  • "ALRIGHTY KIDS! YOU’VE DONE ENOUGH!"
If The Student were to Continue
  • Millie would actively put herself between the two students to break them up before taking them aside to speak with each of them
  • She would also use her cane to create a line of separation between the students if she could not physically step between them.

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
  • "Now listen here, youngin, you are supposed to lead by example, and currently, you are setting a very bad one for the students we are supposed to be educating. Think about what you do before you do it next time."
When in the employee break room, how does your character act?
  • Millie is a very open person. How she presents herself is how she is. After years of being a hard teacher for the betterment of students, she’s finally ready to relax a little more and be goofy yet supportive to her co-workers. She finds that fellow faculty are all just more family in which she gets to nurture and teach.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:

/me shuffles one of her hands into her cardigan pocket before pulling out three candies, two Werthers salted caramels and one nondescript hard candy with a wrapper that looks as if it were a strawberry. “Here you go sweetie! Everyone deserves a treat when they’re trying their best!” she says with all smiles before whispering “just don’t tell the other kiddies I gave it to you” and giving the student a wink.

/me walked slowly and wobbily, as her knees and back aren’t what they once were. Her cane taps against the ground, and a ‘clinking’ noise can be heard with each step. The jingle of her keys paired with her slow movements might even be the slightest bit annoying from an outside perspective. She keeps herself steady with her cane, leaning more onto it as she fidgets with her keys in front of the back-gate door. Counting through them and squinting to pick the right one.

/me slowly read her recipe card that looked as if it had been passed from generation to generation for what must have been the hundredth time in her family. Knowing she would take her own liberties, and almost as if she were super-human, she began to grab all the ingredients she would need for her signature chocolate chip cookies. Of course, she started preheating the oven to a brisk 350 degrees before pulling out her trusty mixing bowl and sifter. As she poured Flour, after egg, after milk, after sugar into the bowl, it was as if she was truly at peace and there was nothing that could pull her out of this moment. She started hand mixing the batter as in her mind, that's how the 'love' gets into the recipe, she simultaneously pulls out her 9 by 13 non-stick cookie sheet that looks as though they’ve been treated as royalty since their indoctrination into her baking supplies. They aren’t scuffed, dinked up, or bent in any which way as if they came straight from the store that day. She then takes a spoon and starts meticulously scooping cookie dough into average sized spheres and placing them on her cookie sheet, taking from some of the balls and putting those parts into the other rolled bits of dough, making sure each is the same size to avoid any future squabbles amongst the children later. After she finished her precise scooping of cookie dough, she then slides her hand over a kitchen drawer and pulls out two handmade quilted oven mitts that look as if they have stood the test of time. Before opening her oven and pulling out the middle rack with her gloved hand and gently sliding the cookie tray into position, before pushing the rack back and closing the oven. And cranking her chicken-shaped cooking timer over to the '8' before setting it down to clean up her mess.

Backstory

As a young adult in college, Millie has always felt that the younger generation needs to start with a firm base in their lives. She wants to be that base for her future students. Millie grew up in a household that was very strict and traditional; she's always aspired to be her best self. Millie had always aspired to be a mother; she grew up her entire high school years with a perfect idea of how she wanted her life to be. She'd dreamed of becoming a lawyer, fighting for justice, especially for those who couldn't. She'd have a beautiful family just like her parents did. Throughout her high school years, she fought hard for this dream, graduating at the top of her class.
Eventually, she'd be old enough to go to college, and unfortunately, learn devastating news. Millie would be diagnosed with PCOS. She very quickly learned that her dream of having a family was never going to happen. She felt heavy sorrow for a long time post-diagnosis; it felt like her entire life had changed. She often felt jealousy towards other women her age. She decided to change her mindset. After a long year of grief, her parents helped her to figure out how she could fill this void and look forward to other dreams.
She decided to switch her major to Early Childhood Education from Political Science, deciding that if she could never have kids of her own, she'd at least teach them lessons that could possibly follow them into adulthood. This was a huge switch for her, causing a lot of stress especially early on. She also had decided on culinary arts, as cooking had always been a passive stress reliever for her. After graduating from college, she searched long and hard, about a full year, for a job in Okinawa, Japan. Eventually settling down as a Preschool Teacher. She learned how to be strict with children and when she could allow them freedom.
It wasn't the same as having her own kids; however, of course, it could never be the same. She eventually decided that she wanted to foster. Japan's fostering system had been really difficult for her to get into, especially the kids going in and out of her home. She developed a lot of empathy for these kids and teens in her care, for however long they would be. It was no longer about her having children, but it was about these kids having safe homes to return to. She'd return from long days of teaching, to kids that she wished nothing but the best for at her home.
Eventually, she'd foster a teenage girl by the name of Ume Kasuga. This girl was very troublesome and difficult, always getting into trouble. She'd never had a foster case this difficult on her before. The troubled girl would constantly lash out, extremely disrespectful to Millie's traditional values and ways. It challenged her in a way that working at a preschool or other fosters never had before. She truly began to feel like a mother to this girl; in a strange way, it felt natural.
Their relationship was rocky, difficult; she hadn't brought up the idea of possibly adopting this girl to anyone. Especially to her, herself. She wanted to give this girl a good life, considering her background was notoriously difficult. But things began to change. There was a level of understanding between the two over time, especially when Ume's birth mother decided to pull herself from being able to adopt Ume again in the future. She had essentially abandoned Ume completely. Millie became a source of comfort for Ume over time, and it was very new and different for both of them.
Millie officially began the process of adoption for Ume, and after a long couple of years of struggle, the girl would be 16 by the time she was adopted by Millie. This changed Millie's perspective greatly, and she even cites it as the sole reason she was able to work so well as a Preschool Teacher for so long. She was eternally grateful for her new daughter, Ume Takahashi, and they cared for each other very much.
Over the years, Ume grew up, and so did Millie. She was getting older, and soon she had grandchildren through Ume. Her perfect family life turned out to be just as perfect as she'd imagined, although it was different from the original dream. She couldn’t have possibly been happier. But she was getting old, and she’d spent so long building this life, it was time for a change.

Millie decided to move to Karakura, Japan. A city that rested on an island off the coast of the mainland that proved to be a challenge throughout its history and news. The reputation of the island had a sense of mystery around it, something exciting for her in her old age. And since she had limited options for work since moving, she decided to put her Culinary Arts major to use, applying for the position of chef at the local highschool.

Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):

After my daughter has grown up and had her own children, and I have settled into a possible retirement. I feel as though something in my life is missing. My daughter has been a huge part of my life for so long, and so had teaching young kids been. But I’m getting older, I don’t have what it takes to make lesson plans in curriculums any longer. I’ve been looking into after-retirement work in Karakura and stumbled upon a job listing for a Chef. Nutritional Values is absolutely something I can still do; I still often send meals to my daughter and her family when I visit. One of the best things you can do for someone is make them a meal, in my opinion. The high school seems like a good place to go to for this, as I do have experience in caring for younger children. I know it’ll be different with teens, but having raised my troublesome daughter into the amazing young woman she is today, I think I can manage. I would love to ensure the youths of today get their proper nutritional balance, as a healthy body is JUST as important as a healthy brain. Especially with the home lives some of these students return to every day, without anyone even knowing! You never know if that school meal is the only one they’re getting throughout the day.

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:

I believe my application should be accepted because I don't have faction experience and am entirely a blank canvas! I have the motivation to learn and be molded into whatever the faction needs me to be. Having no experience may seem like a disadvantage, but it means that you can teach me whatever I need to know, and I can learn to do it perfectly. With no other conflicting past issues. I also am extremely motivated in general to be a part of a faction, and it's like a dream to get to do something fun like that! I am skilled at communicating with others, asking for help when needed, and working both collaboratively and independently. I love working alongside other people, even in silly things like this. I've been a part of countless groups for various other things, just never a faction before! I'm extremely excited about the opportunity and would love to move forward to learn more about SRP and other activities in which I can participate. I want to learn to develop my skills and improve my writing ability. Especially coming from someone with dyslexia, it helps me a lot to practice in spaces like these; it both provides me with numerous opportunities and enables me to be the best version of myself for the faction. I know how to have fun and be silly and not take myself too seriously, as well as when it is time to be serious and have RP moments in depth rather than just using FearRP and being done with it.
