When you look at 1 of the houses/apartments you can see in how long the current rent will expire, I think quite a lot of them are gonna be available soon, but you just have to look by visiting the buildings.

last time I was online, I explored every single place. ALL of the apartments are taken, but there are some houses towards the outside of town are still open.

I think they're all taken, but if one comes available, the deluxe apartments are 60k I think and the regulars are 40k, houses are 200k (I'm not 100% sure of the prices), you pay that price monthly.

You can check my guide on apartments and homes for prices, but they are this:

40k - Regular Old Apartment - 19x19 with an unremovable wall + balcony
BEST VALUE: 7-11 Graders living in a group of 1-5

50k - Shopping District Regular - 25x19 + balcony
BEST VALUE: Best in my opinion for families, people who live alone and in price.

60k - "Deluxe" Apartment (They're not) - 19x19 + balcony
BEST VALUE: None, just don't buy them unless you are rich and live alone.

100k - Penthouse Apartment - 50x19
BEST VALUE: If you can find one that is open, they have a lot of space, more than homes even.

200k - House - Varies, can have balcony.
BEST VALUE: Families and people who rent out apartments

Yeah you usually get hoards of people outside them, i legit came on to find 5 people outside my house that expired in 3 hours, so i just extended it 2 hours later to be a pain because why not.
