Faculty Retirement 06 AUGUST 2025 -- By Flay-Ming Akori The Cycle Each month or so, you may notice a handful of new faces within the herd of faculty. You may also notice the lack of familiar faces as old ones set off to a new mission. The main question lies here: Why do faculty retire? Pushing and Pulling The main motivators of life changes are push-pull factors. Pushing someone out, or pulling someone in. Even a bit of both. If we take these reasons into account, we may be able to dig deeper into the real reasons a given member of faculty leaves the job. Push Factors Student Behaviors: Student behaviors affect many faculty members daily. Whether it’s stalking, fighting, writing fan fictions, or ignoring them. Faculty will get...
New Beginnings 23 JULY 2025 / By Flay-Ming Akori What Happened? As you may know, Vice Principal Moon has stepped down from their role as the ultimate club leader. The role has been quickly filled by Vice Principal Kitagawa. With new ownership comes new perks. I will be focusing on clubs; what kind of changes were made, and are they good or bad? Major Club Changes Broadcasting Room Removed The original Journalism club room was removed, but don’t fret, we have neighbors now! Less stairs to climb, and it’s easier for people to access. Questions, concerns, suggestions? Come on over to the brand new club room in the club hallways. Hallways Take the time to explore if you haven’t already. Tables, chairs, and club rooms everywhere. Come...
Inari Lenue, pictured in a selfie with Kekóa. The fakest smile she can muster adorns her face as Kekoa stares blankly. [There would be an audio file embedded here with the option to play it!] When played, the file would play a clip of Kekóa Anakóni speaking, recorded over a very cheap microphone. Kekóa’s voice could be heard “I thought you were gonna ask me out for drinks then.” Which is followed by a female voice, which has been slightly altered since that’s all that’s required for obfuscation due to the awful microphone. The female voice replies “You’re taken bro-” Kekóa replies with a line so insane, it has been audio enhanced for perfect clarity and crispness. “I said I had a woman. Didn’t say it was committed.” [The audio file...

Clémentime with Clémentine ══•●•══ The Occult Club, Amelia Lee Moon’s paragon, the club with engagement (a first), that surpassed the once mighty Journalism Club itself. An impressive feat of the Karakuran student body- but what happens when you leave an occult institution to children, and then you create a two-party system within? Basically, you get Lord of the Flies but there’s actually a beast and all the little British boys murdered each other. The Mirror that reflects your life’s regrets pops up, Teresa Keating becomes a literal political puppet, Carlisle Fox goes “You’re...
Karakura High: The “Animals” Inside Written by Tsukiko Kurosawa ────────── Karakura High School & College is home to many things. Each day you’re sure to find several students as well as faculty around. There’s also a chance you may run into one of the many resident animals of the school. These creatures are not urban legend or myth, they walk the same halls as us. Some may have noticed dog ears on a classmate. A tail worn by a friend. Perhaps even.. A shrimp? These all could be signs of a school animal. Their danger level depends on the severity. ────────── I composed several files on some animals found on school grounds. This public resource has been made for the student body to refer to in cases of emergency. If attacked, alert a...
Thinking, what’s that? - Konyou Enatsu May 31, 2025 “Thinking, do people actually do that? Or are they just stupid?” - Flay Ming-Akori There I was–leaning against the wall, deep into my thoughts. Or at least, I’m pretty sure I was. Honestly, it’s pretty hard to tell nowadays. Sometimes, I catch myself staring off into the void, wondering if I’ll ever solve the big questions in life. . . or if I just completely forgot what I was supposed to be doing in the first place. The thing is, thinking sounds like something productive. You’ll hear these common phrases of 'critical thinking' and believe it to be difficult, but honestly, I don’t find it all too useful. Nobody ever talks about other forms of thinking, the kind where your brain...
Homework 03 JUNE 2025 / By Flay Ming-Akori Homework: It’s not supposed to be fun, is it? School is hard as is, and taking work home just adds to the stress. You’d think there would be complaints, but instead, I’ve been noticing students becoming excited and demanding for homework. I’ve never heard of something like that, so I’m going to do a deep dive into why homework is so loved by many. Why Love it? It’s Easy Peasy Three questions at most, three classes a day. Up to nine questions, with school breaks in between. It usually takes me 15 minutes each assignment, and they get graded quickly. The process is fully online and easy to access. All you have to do is show up to class, listen, and boom, perfect grade. Saying...
by Clémentine Perrin What is a Locker? ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Worry not, uneducated one. I have your answer! According to Google, a locker is a small lockable closet or compartment, typically as one of a number placed together for public or general use, e.g., in schools, gymnasiums, or train stations. Also, here’s an image! ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Yes, folks – you heard it right there. Lockers are little compartments placed together for storage. Now, this brings up another question... What do I Need in My Locker? ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎I, Clémentine Perrin, have your...
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT #1: FINSTER, AI, ROOM 312!? by: Clémentine Perrin ══════ Hey everyone! It's ya girl, Clémentine, swooping in with another banger report! Oh my gosh, yay! You're so happy. Unfortunately, you'll not get to enjoy my usual voice (mostly), because this is the Student Spotlight, the first of a series I hope to continue! This is all about the students, so I designed a page for each, and tried to moderate my voice to be more befitting of them (especially if it was interviews about them). In our first edition, I have collected three specimens. Erik Finster, who has high hopes for his (hopefully soon-to-be approved) SCIENCE Club, the highly opinionated Miss Mokurei Ai, and an interview-less investigation into Teresa Keating's...
[A looping clip of Kekóa Anakóni calling Kiyoko Akai a bitch would be played here, with the swear beeped out after the B sound] SLT “Friendly Interactions” [There would be an audio file embedded here with the option to play it!] [When played you would hear an enhanced audio clip, of the following interaction; Inari Lenue’s voice is heard asking “Is this SLT Prank Wars?” to which Kaito Akiyama is heard responding to the inquiry with “No, we don’t prank at Karakura High, this is just… Friendly interaction”] [The audio file ends here!] ‘Friendly interactions,’ did you hear that from Mr. Akiyama? I know I did, sounds in line with his character but is a stark contrast from the words the Dean said to Ms. Akai, though we will dive into...
By: Sumi Ishida Some teachers make the difference in whether students feel inspired to learn or not. For a long time now the debate on whether classes are engaging enough, and whether teachers really care about the material they place in front of their students- or further more, even care about the students, has continued. It is no secret many students do not feel motivated at school, but today we will take a moment to appreciate the teachers and professors who make the extra effort and help students wake up wanting to pursue their education. I conducted a poll on 20 students, in varying locations, and of varying ages. Some in high school, some in college. In school, in the plaza, at the beach, in the forest, anywhere and everywhere...
✦ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✦ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✦ INTRODUCTION Greetings, my name is Leilani Li - and this is a long overdue article on the various fashion choices within this school: some that are more questionable than others. This is my first report, and I intend to voice the opinion of the students attending Karakura High alongside the faculty that works there. I will also be discussing the history of ‘fashion’ in Japan, and how it has evolved into what we call ‘fashionable’ today. FASHION IN KARAKURA HIGH Many students tend to stick to a more Y2K aesthetic, and I have also seen a lot of students who claimed to dress like ‘rockstar girlfriends’ - and there are definitely a few gems here and there when it comes to the fashion choices that students make...
by Clémentine Perrin ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ As we all know, KHS and KCC respectively have a group of administrators known as the Senior Leadership Team or, as troublemakers know and hear a lot, the SLT. Although both sets of administrators are efficient and large in number, our Karakura High School has the most administrators by far, with five positions, one of which (Vice-Principal) is given to three members. All administrators do different things. Ms. Moon runs Clubs, Mr. Heddo hires and manages Teachers, and Mr. Akiyama (who we’ll get to in-depth later) runs Student Affairs. Our Vice-Principals are by far the most public and involved members of the KHS SLT, so we know a lot about them. However, members like Deputy Principal Akai are often left...
Karakura's Crime Rate and How It Affects Us. William O. Wisp, May 12th, 2025. I’m sure we all know someone who’s seen some type of crime or illegal activity within the city of Karakura before. Whether it be friends, families, or acquaintances, or perhaps you’ve even seen it firsthand. Maybe it was when you were walking home from school, lounging about at the plaza, or even on school grounds itself. Either way, it’s impossible to escape when living here, and it’s safe to say that the majority of people have grown desensitized to its presence in our lives, but how is that affecting our youth? The rampant crime that occurs within the town of Karakura has created a unique culture seen through the people of Karakura, including those in...
Costumes in School 11 May 2025 / By Flay Ming-Akori What’s Wrong with Costumes? As you all know, costumes of any kind are not allowed in school. It’s a shame because costumes are fun and embrace creativity. I see lots of costumes, like a full on knight with a sword, a dog, Patrick, Yoshi, KPD, and more. What’s wrong with costumes? What is Banned? Full Costumes The most obvious, full costumes. Like the knight pictured above and Yoshi pictured below! Some people go all out and get chewed out for it. Sure, the masks make a bit of sense, but the Halloween Dance was fun and caused no issues. It’s fun, creative, and makes people well-liked and popular! Onesies Onesies are something I just don’t understand. It’s a simple one piece...
Time & Studies - Konyou Enatsu April 30, 2025 Let's be honest with ourselves for a second. How much time do we really spend on our classes? Half of the people don't show up, even if they say that they do. We never discuss what happens in the classes and just get along with our days like nothing happened. And then the times that people do show up, let's not pretend that we're actually focusing. Most of the time is spent whispering with whoever's sitting next to us and planning out the next drama-filled event at the school. I don't even want to get started about the people who are daydreaming, because I totally don't do that myself. What I'm trying to say is, there is always something more 'important' than class. Not naming anybody...
Faculty - What Are They? 24 MARCH 2025 / By Flay Ming-Akori Real People or Machines? As artificial intelligence, or AI, starts taking over jobs, it makes me wonder.. Are faculty actually robots? Do they show empathy, do they have a purpose outside of school? I wonder this myself, and I’m here to look deeper into it. Proof of Suspicion Lack of Reactions I recall the time when Mr. Riggs crashed from the ceiling and right onto Ms. Mori. If I got RKOed mid-class while I was teaching, I would take that personally. However, Ms. Mori just got up like nothing happened. No injuries, no dusting off her pants. Just went right back into her lecture while Riggs just “oop I’m out.” When students insult faculty, they never react emotionally...
Why would leashing a literal human be an issue solver? The School’s problem Simply put, there are just too many problems in this school, be it homework, the right to even have a chance against bullies, or even the mere existence of those who don't care whether you're a friend or foe to your classmate. The most important thing, however, is discipline and following the rules. Those who follow the school rules are usually decent classmates or even teachers and school employees. But unfortunately, like in every other school, there's a problem that's almost impossible to solve. Namely, the rule breakers themselves. They don't listen, they don't pay attention, and they don't care whether a rule is broken or whether they end up in...
“Protect and Serve” The Karakura Police Department, better known as KPD, graced our school stage earlier this week. The demonstration was set to focus on ways for citizens to stay safe while crime in our town continues to grow. Those in attendance included Officers K876, K250, K555, K420, as well as Detectives K808 & K313. Once each was introduced the rest of the assembly began. Karakura Community College’s own Professor Benicious A. Watcher participated as the supposed criminal being raided. KPD showed themselves gearing up before entering the residence, which had already been signaled to have illegal weapons. They were able to show their crowbars and riot shields! Hopefully none of the students have had to see them before.. Upon...
