Announcement Spring Updates

Spring Updates
Over the last 5 months, myself, the development, content, and staff team have been working behind the scenes to release some amazing content for SchoolRP, some of which you will have already seen. We're extremely proud of the progress we've made to improve the server with bug fixes, map updates, and some cool features!

We hope you enjoy our latest Re-cap video which shows all of the amazing changes in a creative format; a fun watch. If you'd prefer to watch the video instead of reading, check it out below! If you'd prefer to read, we've got our usually change logs, including bug fixes and minor updates we didn't include in the video a little further down this post.

Headline Features

As planned, our previously named 'Shopping District' has been transformed into the stunning 'Shōtengai' where you'll find 15 of Karakura's shops. Around Shōtengai you can also visit NPC stores, the bank, two of Karakura's most stunning parks, a parking lot, and friends living in the one of the newly designed 56 Penthouses (V block) and 100 Apartments (F block). We're proud of our Build Team for untaking such as large project within the space of 2 months, making Karakura feel even more Japanese than ever before. Check it out for yourself!

Our Profile system got yet another cosmetic update with its Character Menu getting a beautiful upgrade, allowing you to more easily see which character you're swapping into without having to remember the slot you left them on! Along with this, You can now see even more details about your characters from the Character Menu, such as your character's height, age, languages, and remaining language slots.

At popular request, we've updated the Nickname system! You can now set your nickname to almost anything you'd like, with Hexadecimal colour codes too! Colour codes are no longer included in the character limit – which we've increased to 16 characters maximum – when setting your nickname.

Our Vending Machines got a little facelift as well, now with three types of them scattered around the map! You'll find Food and Drink vending machines anywhere around Karakura, and Snack vending machines within the school. With this, we updated the menu, added some cool animations and sounds, and updated all of the items sold by the machines along with pricing.

After many years, the Dodgeball teams make their long-awaited return to Karakura High! Interested becoming one of 16 lucky members joining their team? Look out for try-outs in the Karakura Academics Discord.

Of course, we couldn't add a Dodgeball Team without updating the Dodgeball plugin which has been fully re-coded to allow for competitive gameplay during tournaments. You can now join a team of your own choosing, bounce the ball, and eliminate enemies by catching their thrown ball. Along with this, we added bouncing sounds as well as a more aesthetically pleasing ball texture. Check out the Dodgeball Plugin Showcase video.

To assist teachers in immersing their students, we added a Whiteboard plugin which allows the teacher to write notes, information, and other relevant information in real time for their class.

We've added the planned Locker Update which includes stunning animations, as well as even more storage the size of a double chest! Not feeling the plain design? Why not decorate your locker with awesome stickers to personalize it to your character's interests and vibe.

We've introduced a brand-new type of permanent property has been released known as Mansions. These properties cost ¥65,000,000 each, and their design references are chosen by you and built by our build team. These properties are only available to families larger than 5 members, and you can find these properties between the Forest and the Shotengai.

It's no surprise with the changes to the Character Menu that we added Per-Profile Language Slots which enables you to apply for up to 2 (or 3 with an additional authorization) languages for each character slot. This now means that you no longer have to share the same 2 or 3 languages for your characters, allowing you even more roleplay opportunity. If you're missing your old languages, transfer them with /srplanguage transfer [language]!

As previously suggested, we finally added a way for you to trade or give items to another player via command, eliminating the chance of your items accidentally being picked up by another player. Use the /giveto command, followed by the amount of the item you're holding that you wish to give the other player.

We added a Fire System to all standalone faction buildings around the map with working Extinguishers and Alarm systems; another slice of life feature to help immerse you. By pulling a fire call point, the KPD is automatically called out to the faction's building to investigate and extinguish any fires.

We've officially moved Housing Issues, Item & Vehicle Requests, Role Requests, All Reports, and General Support over to our Forums Ticket system (separate from the in-game system) which helps to keep the forums a little neater. Our Administration team typically respond within 24 hours of ticket creation via forums.

Announcement Winter Updates

Winter Updates
Over the last 3 months, myself, the development, content, and staff team have been working behind the scenes to release some amazing content for SchoolRP, some of which you will have already seen. We're extremely proud of the progress we've made just in the first two months of this year alone, and we're looking forward to even more epic updates to the server features and map, and we hope you are too!

Moving forward, our Content Team will help showcase our awesome updates in quarterly (every 3 months) re-cap videos which show all of the amazing changes in a creative format. If you'd rather watch it, check it out below! Either way, why not check out some of our smaller updates that weren't included in the re-cap video further down this post.

Headline Features

Our Profile system got a brand-new cosmetic update, allowing you to use Profile Decorations to beautify your character’s description with insane amounts of customisation! Change your font, background, and even add a border to your profile to match your character’s aesthetic. Not vibing with the free decorations? get additional decoration packs from our webstore, or exclusive to your server rank

You can now set your character’s height after popular demand, you can do this with /setheight! The maximum height is now 6’5 (or 7’0 with a Character Authorisation), and the minimum has stayed the same at 4’5 (or 4’0 with a Character Authorisation). This update is all available in vanilla minecraft which will help to improve the immersion without the need of having additional mods.

After popular request, we’ve re-added the functional Backpack system to allow you to store up to 18 slots of additional storage. Backpacks will be sold at shops, however the School Bag with 9 slots is sold at the Family Store too! We’ve added some restrictions to these, meaning you can’t store a backpack in a chest if it isn’t empty, however you can pass them to each other.

The long awaited Backwear feature has finally been released! We’ve gone ahead and updated all items we believe could be backwear to use this feature, meaning if you right-click them they’ll now stay attached to your body. Along with this, in future you can even purchase a backwear cosmetic item from our store.

We’ve significantly improved our Furniture system which now allows you to move furniture 360 degrees, allowing for even more customisation to your houses and apartments! Along with this, we’ve fixed several issues, for example furniture disappearing when you turn, and allowing furniture to be viewed all around you rather than just in front of you.

Wardrobe skins now save per-profile! This saves a huge amount of time for every one who uses more than one profile.

Karakura now follows its own Weather forecast which transitions realistically through different weather phases. This now means that it can snow outside of Winter in extreme rare case scenarios, as well as allowing us to make it rain more or less often outside of Karakura’s ‘Monsoon Season’. View the weather forecast in-game by using the /forecast command, or by viewing the phone app on your Smart Phone.

We added the Homework system! Homework allows a player to progress from Highschool to College on their own, without having to attend an exam. To get assigned a homework task, all you have to do is attend an in-game class hosted by a teacher, by the end of the school day your teacher should have set you a simple piece of homework related the the class you attended.

We added a Buddy System to the school which allows new players who have been online for 5 minutes or longer during a school day to request a Student Councillor or Counselor to be their buddy! This mini-role allows any helpful player to be a new player’s guide to the server via a school tour and orientation In-Character.

We’ve updated the Cooking Plugin to allow shops to cook their very own shop-owned items using the new private recipes feature. You’re now able to use multiple ovens at a time, and by attending a culinary class in school, you’ll be able to unlock new and exclusive recipes! New items have been added to the cooking plugin as ingredients! You can now purchase Pork Chop and Chicken Breast from the Mori Mart NPC store, or from a player-ran shop even cheaper! You can even brew your own hot drinks such as Frappuccino, Hot Chocolate, and much more in the brand-new Barista update. Simply head down to the Furniture shop, pick up a Barista Machine, and right-click it in your apartments to start brewing!

We have added an all-new Community Team! Introducing the Content Team; a group of incredibly talented and creative individuals who help to plan and create Social Media and in-game content. You can see their work so far on our New Player Guides as well as short-form content on our TikTok!

We’ve updated our chat to include Animated Emoticons which are currently exclusive to the Trendsetter package! Whilst these are limited, we plan on using them around the server for chat messages and information to help newer players get started.

Our Property Signs have been updated to make it easier to claim an apartment with the signs being blocked, alongside having the addition of Doorbells which allow you to play a sound and chat notification for everyone inside of the property within a 10x10x10 radius of the property’s sign.

Announcement 1.21.1 Update

1.21.1 Update
As you all know, SchoolRP currently runs version 1.19 which is now over 2 years old! Since then, there are many new mobs, blocks, features, and items added to Minecraft that we'd love for you to be able to utilise on the server within your roleplay.

There will be a short scheduled downtime as we move to 1.21.1 on the 27th of September at 6pm BST. As you'd imagine, this update will require us to have roughly 30 minutes - 1 hour downtime whilst we upload the updated versions of our plugins and ensure everything is working as it should be.

We will be posting periodic updates during the downtime to keep you informed about how far along we are, as well as when you'll be able to re-connect via our Discord server in #announcements.

Do I need to change my Minecraft Version?
We'd strongly recommend updating your version and mods to the latest version (Currently 1.21.1) for the best experience on the server. This will allow you to see different blocks and entities around the map.

In a couple of weeks, we will be completely dropping support for versions below 1.19.4 as the new entities we'll be using cannot be displayed on lower versions. We understand that for some this may be disappointing, however the majority of common Mods are currently available to download for 1.21.1.
What about my Mods?
You should update them along with your client! You can find updated versions online, however we've created a short list of links for mods that we know are popular to use on our server. click here for help updating your mods.
What is new in this version?
There's a bunch of new mobs which may be utilisated for events, as well as entities which will replace our current Furniture entities which should both improve performance and their hitbox. Alongside this, there are a plethora of new blocks, inlcuding: Bamboo Wood, Cherry Wood, Pots, Hanging Signs, Pink Petals, Pitcher Plants, More Copper Blocks, and much more!

Any questions? Reply to this thread!
