Backstory
Meika grew up in a small town in Japan, where she quickly discovered her love for numbers. Even as a child, she enjoyed solving puzzles and working through math problems. While many of her classmates struggled with math, Mei found it fun and natural. Because of this, her teachers often asked her to help other students understand their work. Meika enjoyed helping others and was happy whenever she could explain something in a way that made someone say, “Oh, I get it now!”
By the time she was a teenager, Meika had already started tutoring younger students in her neighborhood. Some needed help with basic math, while others needed support with more difficult subjects. She was patient and good at explaining things clearly, which made her tutoring very effective. These experiences helped her realize that she wanted to work in education someday.
After finishing school, Meika decided to study Mathematics Education at university. During this time, she also took a minor in Child Development so she could better understand different learning styles. She spent several years tutoring both younger students and classmates. She also completed a school practicum, where she helped lead small math groups and gave extra support to students who needed it. This made her realize that she enjoyed one-on-one and small-group teaching even more than full classroom teaching.
When Meika later moved to Karakura, she looked for ways to continue helping students. She heard good things about KHS and saw that the school had many students who could benefit from extra academic help. She wants to make math less intimidating for students and show them that with the right guidance, anyone can improve.
Becoming a Math Tutor at KHS is the next step she hopes to take so she can continue doing what she loves, helping students grow confident, capable, and proud of their progress.
Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
I want to help students who find math difficult and show them that they can succeed with the right support. I enjoy tutoring, I’m patient, and I want to contribute positively to the school environment.
Why should you be accepted over other applicants?:
I am reliable, patient, and experienced with helping students learn. I understand how to explain math in simple ways, and I’m committed to creating a supportive learning environment. I believe I can be a strong addition to the KHS staff.
