About Me

What's your Minecraft Username?: LuckyLuuk_
What's your Discord username?: luckyluuk_
What's your Time Zone?: UTC+2

Provide any link(s) to previous applications:

What are your current roles on the server?:
Developer, Grade-12

Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Obviously because of the basic reasons everyone would put here: first face to new players, foundation of a "School based roleplay"

But I want to add that teachers have a higher purpose than just that. They are a "source" of roleplay which cannot easily be found in every human. With this I mean: some people don't tend to "randomly start roleplaying" and a teacher can perfectly "demand" (by asking questions and such..) players to roleplay and get them going and growing more towards the community

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes

In-Character Section

What's your character's full name?: Gabriel Veridicus
What is your character's nationality?: Unknown / Likely somewhere in Europe
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Physics)

Describe your character:
*It was not really an option but if possible I would like to add "Science (Computer science)" to the school, I just picked Science (Physics) as that is probably the most close-to-computer-science type of science there is...

In-Game description: (/viewdesc)
Standing before you, a tall, sharp dressed, highly intelligent and trustworthy gentleman...
His name and its meaning couldn't match the person better. A truthful being from above...

Gabriel Veridicus (The fallen angel, Veridicus => "truth speaker")
- Tall and well-dressed (in my humble biased opinion..)
- Extremely intelligent and extremely honest
- Introvert, takes his time to say what he wants to say to emphasize the meaning and ensure people hear what he has to say
- Blond hair, blue eyes
- Wants to gain more knowledge and share his knowledge in his journey to more knowledge

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Gabriel always aims to be very direct, and correct at all times. If any trouble occurs between him and other students or co-workers he would take all the time deemed necessary to solve the issues.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Gaining and sharing knowledge, knowledge is the absolute form of power and thereby the best way to make yourself useful for society by sharing it with others

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Highly depends on the type of class and prepared learning material but to cover a few cases:
- Busy: much learning material or very interrupting class
My character would recommend the student to come to the desk after I finished a "required" part of the explanation to get more personal assistance
- Normal: silent class with a normal amount of material to go through
My character would just immediately ask the student what the problem is and try to identify the real issue if the student is unable to properly clarify on their struggles. When the problem is clear and the present knowledge of the topic is clear to my character then he would decide a difficulty in which to either ask a question to let the student rethink about the issue with a bit more of a correct direction or my character would try to simplify as much as possible and build up slowly by confirmation steps from the student

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Each lesson I would start with a very short introduction of my character and the consequences of disrupting the class.
From this all students will know that they'll receive 1 warning only and on a second time talking without raising a hand they get kicked out.
Direct.
Efficient.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
1. Google Maps - Path Algorithm
I would explain the basic goal of A* algorithm (finding a path from a certain place to another place using vertices and edges) and then explain the algorithm shortly. After that
I would let the students (individually) open google maps (in roleplay of course or for real if they really want to do the exercise) and let them fill in their route from home to the school. Then they can make an ascii art (or imaginative) drawing using vertices and edges of this route and try to perform A* manually. Homework will be possible because they should be able to answer things like:
- On what data structures does A* work?
- How would you model a roundabout using vertices and edges?
- What kind of data structure can be used to store the length / cost of the routes computed at runtime of A* ?
and way more...

2. Youtube cookies - Security & Privacy
I would explain the different types of cookies and their possible "settings" after that we will together or individually (both possible) look at Youtube and use the DevTool to look at the cookies set and then have a discussion in-class about the amount, what they are used for and how the types/settings apply to the different usage of the cookies found.
Homework again is possible by asking questions about the types/settings and usage. Also personal opinions can be asked on this topic
