What's the title of your suggestion?: Looking for Roleplay | Forum Update

What's your suggestion?:
I feel that the current sections on the forum specifically in "Roleplay Documents" remain too broad to search for potential character and biography connections such as siblings, friends, etc. I think the server would benefit with the addition of a section called "Looking for Roleplay" or similar where players can link their biographies and/or describe what they'd like for their character and seek connections and people can reply, offering those connections with new/existing characters.

Example:

John Smith (Luxo119) is looking for a cousin for his character, and would make a forum post in this proposed section. A new player to the server (Kale001) joins into that forum post and says that he is new and would love to create a character with that connection, and to contact him on Discord. As such, that connection can be made much easier and be planned out more thoroughly.

Issues:
Now, you may be asking why you cannot use one of the existing channels or sections on the forums as of current, and I'd say that I think there are a few existing issues with them which makes it, as said, too broad:
1. Character Biography - The section is for specifically introducing your character on mostly an OOC (with some IC content that can be viewed upon meeting the individual) level to the community. Of course, this is the most related section on the forums for this sort-of thing but with over 190 pages of content with most of them being related to just introducing your character and not specifically of the topic of "Looking for Roleplay" then I think this is fundamentally not able to keep up with such things, as players wouldn't be looking here for that.
2. Roleplay Documents - Again, too broad. This entire section which is the parent section of Biographies, News Reports, Shops & Businesses, and Lore remains a section of anything that could potentially be taken ICly by the players. It has been used as a section for "Looking for Roleplay" in the past but players won't be looking in this section for that, and it would get cluttered pretty easily with other content such as IC websites, news articles, etc.
3. Discord - The discord remains mostly for queries towards staff and channels for content such as uniforms, rosters, etc. The discord is certainly not used as much as the forums when it comes to IC content or planning and any public channels are usually for memes or general chatter. Not a place to discuss character connections, and if you tried, you'd likely be drowned out.

How will this benefit the server and community?:
The current issues that stands with seeking new connections for your character is that, as mentioned above, the channels/sections on the discord and forum are way too broad for this sort-of thing which makes it intimidating for the new player to make those connections which can actually be an amazing way of getting into the roleplay of the server.

Are you by yourself and looking for connections for your character? Make a thread!

I don't think there is a need to create an extra channel. I feel like the Roleplay Document section is already good enough for what we need. There are families who post invites (some of them looking for someone to roleplay a specific character), so I guess that also answers the need you put in the example. Most of them offer their Discord, meaning coordinating things like stories would be easy.

I do feel like categorizing a 'Families' section under the Roleplay Documents would be beneficial, but I don't think they are needed in SRP as for now.

Neutral

I think this should be something that's already in a lot of non official SRP servers.
It is good that those exist in non-official SRP servers but the issue is that it doesn't cater at all for the newer players who are coming here for the first time and don't see those sorts of servers as it's limited to those who were already invited in there.

I agree that the roleplay documents is technically sufficient, but it also includes many other topics as stated such as the news, IC websites, etc that actually makes up the vast majority. A different section either in the forums or if you wanted to avoid forum bloat and instead move it from unofficial SRP servers to the main one with one additional channel would do wonders.

If you wanted to go the discord route, you could even have a single channel where you post your request and then make a thread where people can talk and make up plans for it. It wouldn't bloat much and be much more accessible for the new or returning players.

It isn't something necessarily out of need as stated above but I believe it would be beneficial so players are able to establish those connections, creating unique roleplay opportunities that is often missed out around here as making those plans can be difficult as there is no set place to do it or plan it.

I appreciate all of these opinions though as it gave me a broader perspective when looking at this and offering another potential solution for those upstairs to consider! <3

I think Roleplay documents having its own sub forum for character biographies wouldn’t be a bad shout to add for players that are only looking for characters to roleplay with or explore

Additionally, I think a “Looking for roleplay” sub forum under the general category for the purpose of finding people to roleplay with or potentially joining available families is a good idea too. It not only makes Roleplay more accessible for new players but I can also see it helping veteran players too
