(absolutely horrible looking back at it now)

What are your current roles on the server?:
No special roles, all of my character slots are at Grade 12.

Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Without teachers, firstly it would not be a "School" RP anymore, and secondly, teachers give students a reason not to log off during the school day, by hosting (hopefully entertaining) classes. Students get a reason to attend school ICly, and teachers hosting classes can help academic development, as well as develop bonds, amicably or (academically) hostile between themselves.

Teachers create a safe and controlled environment for Students to purposefully RP, as opposed to slightly duller and more idle interactions. Besides that, classes can be a good way for people newer to RP in general to understand how the flow of conversations works. Although RP can still be done in their absence, having a teacher engage with students and giving them something to work towards can be a good motivator to continue playing.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes

In-Character Section

What's your character's full name?: Nicholas Andrade
What is your character's nationality?: Canadian
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Maths

Describe your character:
Nicholas Andrade is a middle-aged (42), Canadian man who stands at a rather tall 5'11", with a sturdy yet friend-shaped build, His skin, slightly caressed by the sun, still bares a light tone. A gentle pair of dark brown eyes, accompanied by rich brown hair, very slightly streaked with silver at the temples, giving him a distinguished air that complements his neatly trimmed beard. He often dresses in his signature deep blue collared shirt, with beige trousers, accompanied by grey sneakers. The exact fashion sense of a father, you could say.

His plans for the future are to improve the way people who knew him in the past do, and to get a good reputation among others. Nick's driving force would have to be taking care of his wife and daughter to the best of his ability, as well as improving the conditions for his students.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
For both co-workers and students, he sees them as equals. Never will he ever belittle anyone, and will always take the most non-aggressive path to solve a conflict if possible. Nicholas is sometimes reluctant to reach out for help, not wanting to risk the possibility of leaving a bad impression, but he will eventually ask if he doesn't figure it out himself.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
After moving into Karakura, Nicholas wanted to have a clean slate at live. He thought that the best way in which he could do this was to teach students, and guide them in the right direction, not in the one he went in during his own life. Since there were no jobs in the Computer Science department, he decided to apply for his next best subject. Maths, (and Statistics!)

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Nicholas would be teaching the class as normal, and upon seeing that a student was struggling with a task, he'd have multiple measures ready:
1. Focus the student down the right path - He will give them subtle hints, so that the struggling student would hopefully make the connection themselves (and feeling good about it good!)
2. Simplify the problem, and present it in a different context to the student (change the wording not the numbers).
3. Offer help at the end of the class (in the case of him being tight on time and having to finish the lesson).

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Nicholas likes to operate on chances, or strikes if you will. He really does not want to dish out detentions, so he gives out 3 chances for someone to improve.

1st Offence - Verbal warning, usually consisting of him asking the student to repeat what he just said, or to finish his sentence. He'll be able to tell if they were listening or not if they can follow through.
2nd Offence - Taken outside for a conversation, mostly consisting of dissuading the person from continuing to make everything harder for themselves in the long run.
3rd Offence - Detention most likely, either lunchtime or after-school.

Strikes generally get reset each lesson, however if particular people continue pushing it to the edge, sanctions will escalate. This is just a broad overview, and will mostly depend on the type of misbehaving happening. If something more severe, such as yelling or fighting, then he might skip the previous two strikes and go straight to detention. If the student is normally good, and just chatty this particular lesson, that is also taken into account. Basically all dependent on context of previous lessons, but the moment you step into his classroom, consider yourself a blank slate.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
1. School survey!
Most likely part of the Statistics part of Maths, Nicholas would allow his class members to pick groups of 3-4, and then take them out to interview other students or teachers around school about a topic of their choice (once green-lit by Nick first). Once they finish collecting the data, the groups get together and make a presentation on their findings. The whole purpose? To allow the students to get some real experience of how it feels to carry a practical investigation, of course! Students coule benefit from getting up from the traditional sat down class, and get some liberty over what they do.

2. Holiday activities
Changing to fit the appropriate upcoming holiday, as opposed to a normal lesson, Nicholas would use themed puzzles to spice up lessons. Crosswords of Statistical terms, Murder Mystery Algebra, you name it, and he will probably have it. Everyone needs a break right at the end of term, right? Why not give them a relaxing lesson with a chocolate prize to be won at the end?
