I LOVE PRIDE POSTS!! All of my characters are part of the LGBTQ+ community in one way or another. I don't have a single straight AND cisgender character. It's part of how I express myself! I have a spreadsheet of all of my past and current characters, and I genuinely don't think there's a single straight character on there.
Out of my current active characters though, I'll yap about them for a bit.
― NAOMI INOUE
First, everyone's favourite ex-BMD and ex-Paramedic Chief, Naomi Inoue! He's a transgender man, very much for the men (homosexual) and is asexual! I won't lie, he's a very complicated character when it comes to relationships. He's in an open relationship with his lovely platonic wife (yes, they're legally married) and his wonderful boyfriend. He doesn't really do big commitments after his last two long-term relationships (one ended with him being broken up with, the other ended in an amicable divorce) and the nicest way I can describe his behaviour is that he's just a guy with a lot of love to give. He's a big flirt. As for him being trans, it's just a part of his character. When he first came about, a lot of people misgendered him (completely by accident, and I don't fault anyone for it) due to his feminine name and long beautiful hair. It's a big part of his character as much as it isn't a big part of his character, but it's obviously still important. Representation matters too! He's just a silly transgender guy, trying to live his life and not get killed by the multitudes of people who want him dead.
― YASU MORI
Yasu's story is incredibly tragic, even though it's definitely not as developed as other characters I have/had in the past. She's aromantic and asexual, meaning she doesn't feel romantic or sexual attraction to anyone! However, a big part of her character is that she feels pressured to get into a relationship to continue the family line (either from her parents or just a self-imposed expectation), and is actively trying to find someone who would date her, who she can fake being in love with as to not disappoint. Though, a small part of her wants to get into a relationship just to prove that she doesn't like that stuff - hence why her 'theme' song is Romance is Boring - and so she can finally just live her life the way she wants to! She's not really at that point yet, she's mostly internalising her issues and trying to get someone to like her. With my own experiences with my sexuality, Yasu is sort of my way of processing that unknown and scary part of figuring out who you are.
― JESSE MILLER
My favourite bisexual BMD and reporter, Jesse ^_^ He's bisexual and transgender, it's not really a big part of his character. He likes girls and guys and everyone in-between and out-between. His story mainly focuses on his trauma and responses to aforementioned trauma, instead of his sexuality. He does actively attend pride parades though. You will absolutely see him wearing his flag like a cape and showing off his scars like it's his last day on earth. I love him dearly.
All of my other characters are either shelved or their pride isn't as significant within their story on SRP, but a few honourable mentions go to my favourites:
― KIOSHI YAGI, my first gay character on SRP
― KIYOKO KITAGAWA, my genderfluid baby who went through every label under the sun trying to find herself until she found her amazing wife
― REINO LAITINEN, my youngest character who doesn't know who they are (unlabelled, aroace), and has unfortunately been forcibly stolen from SRP to partake in a different universe...
