Adjustments for the suggestions system regarding +1 - 1 UPDATED

What's your Minecraft Username?: KayLoon
What's the title of your suggestion?: Adjustments for the suggestions system regarding +1 - 1

What's your suggestion?:

This suggestion was updated and changed the wording due to people misunderstanding and not understanding what this suggestion was saying

First, this suggestion is not trying to remove people doing +1 or -1, it is instead suggesting that there would be two emoji's the +1 and -1; these two emojis would be exclusive to only Suggestions | SchoolRP | Minecraft Roleplay Server. In other words, only suggestions would be two emojis that are +1 and -1 appear

Second, why I feel like this is a good solution and very much necessary for the forums, it'll entice players that don't feel the need or don't feel like typing a reply to a suggestion to simply put their opinion as +1 or -1, any person that does have a opinion hasn't either been repeated or needs words can just reply to a suggestion as usual

Third, [LATEST POSTS], now if you check over to the latest posts area, it shows that it's from the suggestion area in the forums, 70% of the time, you would see just simply +1 or -1, nothing else, and nothing more. Now, if we go over to the Rules - Forum Rules | SchoolRP | Minecraft Roleplay Server, or further find details, the (8.1 Avoid making 'bulk responses' just to artificially increase your message count or account level. Instead, focus on providing meaningful, insightful, substantive replies rather than one-sentence answers, e.g. 'ok', 'I like this post it's great', etc.)

Now, by all means, it is technically speaking a rule break, now whether or not it's reinforced or that's not is not relevant to this conversation.

Fourth, I'll now be returning back to the 2nd reason, if you click on the Suggestions | SchoolRP | Minecraft Roleplay Server and you look over at the Replies, below that, there's this thing said Views a lot of the time, if not all the time, most views go above 200 or 400, now I'm not sure how this system works regarding the views, I fully doubt we have 1k members checking the suggestions, BUT, it does show that there is a possibility that there's a large amount of players that check and read the suggestions but don't put in their opinion, either due to shyness or simply they didn't feel like it, putting the emojies that I'm talking about could entice players to interact with a post, which is what SRP staff wants more interactions in the forums (101 copy of what I said in the replies lol)

How will this benefit the server and community?:
This would great benefit for shy people who don't feel comfortable typing in the thread, it would entice people to at least interact with a suggestion, and it'll also decrease the players who simply write +1 or -1 to either boost their account or to show support for a suggestion, not only that it'll also decrease the amount of time a person has to scroll down through suggestions if we see a row if +1 or -1 with a few extra small words

As much as I love this, It's the "don't worry bout people doing -1 in your applications" that does it in for me.
As sad as it is, people will do that, and it will cause more toxicity among the faction space which is something staff want to avoid as best as possible. Also, I don't think +1 or -1 as messages are necessarily bulk as it's giving an opinion on the suggestion at hand

I think you missed the part where I said that this feature will only appear in the suggestion part of the forums, if you do disagree with it either way, then at all means no player should be allowed to do a -1 or +1

EDIT: In the rule, it states, for example, 'I like this post it's great', which is giving an opinion, and is a rule-break for bulk responses aka the equivalent of +1

people have their opinions, its best to just let them have their opinions and not try and argue it

You've completely missed every single point I've made. I'm not removing people's permission and rights for their opinion; I'm simply putting a solution that doesn't make it so that the person doesn't break a rule in the forums, people can still put their +1 -1 without needing to post a reply like the one I'm doing with you.

EDIT: If you still need me to repeat myself of other reasons, if this suggestions gets accepted likely more people would interact with a suggestion someone posts, less people would just use this part of the forums as a way to farm their forums accounts, it'll also make it easier for people to read through any suggestions replies as there won't be any +1 or -1

The point for suggestion threads are for people to be able to share their own ideas, opinions, etc. on the topic the suggestion goes over and show the staff team if the player base [for those of us who check suggestions] agree or disagree with a idea a player is suggesting.
Not to mention a lot of times people purely write +1/-1 and nothing else because they are not comfortable sharing their reasoning of the opinion or their opinion was already stated. If this truly broke rules, then staff would have done something regarding it a lot time ago as these are checked over by staff frequently to make sure players are behaving on the forums page.

Again, you've completely missed the fact that I gave a solution, ONLY IN THE SUGGESTION PART OF THE FORUMS, would two emojis appear that say +1 and -1, I'm suggesting this for people who don't bother to go deeper into their opinion and just want to post +1 or -1. Please re-read what my suggestion said from start to finish before doing a -1

This suggestion was made some years ago, though I still recall discussing it with a few other players.

While I agree that opinions matter and that it's helpful when people explain why they disagree with something, trying to force this idea won't exactly improve much. Making players write more than they want and punishing them for sharing a vague opinion would probably create more tension between players and staff.

Instead, I’d recommend focusing on the replies that offer meaningful feedback rather than the vague +1/-1's. If you do this, you'll be able to get a better understanding of why others might disagree, even if they haven't explicitly said so.

In addition to this, though staff tends to consider community feedback when reviewing suggestions, it's ultimately up to their discretion to accept or deny them. During staff meetings, they'll discuss the pros and cons of your idea and come up with a verdict based on the staff-discussed feedback.

Which is why I've added in my suggestion the idea of having 2 exclusive emojies in the suggestion forums that says +1 and -1, if the players don't wish to write more, they can just click either two emojies

This looks like a nice addition. Technically, I assume you could already do this with Forums Polls (which tend to be underused). In any case, though it sounds nice, I doubt players will quit doing this even if they have an alternative. It's sort of a cultural thing now, as people have been doing it for the longest time. Forcing them to change doesn't seem like the best approach in my opinion, though I don't doubt that maybe things could change in the long run.

+1. Honestly even if you do -1 or +1 you need to add at least one sentence why you disagree. Unless the topic in the suggestion has already been implemented and would ACTUALLY not make the game better then people need to explain why they agree or disagree even at least in caveman words. The point of replies in a suggestion is for others to give their opinion on the suggestion so we can make the suggestion BETTER. If people dont want to give their argument in a suggestion then there should just be a like or dislike button and without replies with this logic. What is the point of people giving a short opinion like "no this is a bad idea", why is it a bad idea? If there are flaws in a suggestion, people that disagree with it instead of actually saying ''-1'' they can also give a small solution.

Though there's some shy people out there and for that I think the best solution would be a like and dislike button and then people can reply in even simple detail about why they disagree or agree. It would make everything better and the people that arent actually shy, instead of saying something bland that doesnt give any solutions whatsoever they can click the dislike or like button. I think pressing a button needs less energy that writing something like "-1 thats a bad idea" anyways.

I also wanted to add that adding a dislike and like button can keep track of who agrees and disagrees so it can either be discarded or implemented in the future

Seems unnecessary like some have mentioned if this was an issue and clearly seen as a rule break then staff would’ve fixed this issue years ago. Those who put a -1 or +1 and don’t say anything else could be because someone has mentioned it already, or they’ll end up repeating the same opinion they had as someone else, or they don’t feel like writing out an opinion. They are not obligated to write out an opinion towards a suggestion they read. They’re allowed to just put a -1 or +1 to the suggestion they read. Which again if staff found this as an issue then this would’ve been resolved years ago. You can always use the poll feature if you want an upvote or updown system instead of comments from your suggestions, but it’ll most likely not prevent everyone from ignoring the poll feature and just coming down and replying with a +1 or -1.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to -1 to your -1

The 2nd point regarding the "Those who put a -1 or +1 and don’t say anything else could be because someone has mentioned it already, or they’ll end up repeating the same opinion they had as someone else", I'm sorry, but what does that have to do with the comment that is giving a solution aka the emoji that does +1 or -1 in the suggestion thread? If their gonna do +1 regardless, instead of unnessarly doing a reply, they can just click a button, aka the exclusive emojis that are -1 and +1, if this suggestion gets accepted

Regarding the poll feature, what does that change with my suggestion? Have you seen consistently people using the poll feature to make a suggestion?

Now, I'll add the final piece if you click on the Suggestions | SchoolRP | Minecraft Roleplay Server and you look over at the Replies, below that, there's this thing said Views a lot of the time, if not all the time, most views go above 200 or 400, now I'm not sure how this system works regarding the views, I fully doubt we have 1k members checking the suggestions, BUT, it does show that there is a possibility that there's a large amount of players that check and read the suggestions but don't put in their opinion, either due to shyness or simply they didn't feel like it, putting the emojies that I'm talking about could entice players to interact with a post, which is what SRP staff wants more interactions in the forums

So yes it's necessary

EDIT: Regarding the first part "if this was an issue and clearly seen as a rule break then staff would’ve fixed this issue years ago." There has been MANY many times in schoolrp history where despite the fact it wasn't a issue or sometimes a rule break, staff went back to fix it went back to change it, sometimes it went for the better

I've been in multiple Discord servers and forums which allow you to react/vote for certain suggestions, etc. while still being given the option to say why you voted why you did, specifically for people who did -1. I can agree that being given a system where you're able to react/vote instead of typing a whole separate message because you agree with an opinion someone else stated feels more viable and something that can be worked with

we do -1 cuz -1 if we wanna do +1 we do +1
I'll ask you to please re-read the suggestion, I'm giving a simple way to do -1 and +1 using emojis like the ones on each message in the forum without having to reply to the thread, if anything, this makes doing +1 and -1 easier.

I read some of the replies, but honestly I think that this is a good idea. I want to share my opinion, but I don't feel the need to write anything out, and I don't like adding a response that isn't insightful. So, with this emoji addition, I'd be able to add my opinion to a suggestion and also be able to see other opinion's upfront without scrolling. It also might help with getting more activity on suggestions since most people don't prefer to add a comment anyways.

I think it makes it easier to go through replies without just scrolling past a bunch of +1s that could just be replaced with an emoji reaction. Sure, we have the like button thing but an emoji +1/-1 makes it just a simple click and then the repies will be filled with actual opinions instead of basically message spam so i fw it
