Appearance:
Iselin likes to keep herself in check, or just makes sure she's neat. Apparel-wise, she's not very extravagant,
so simple, but cute, clothes and a few bow accs. will do for her. Though she prefers outfits that can cover her limbs, as bruises tend to show up often
due to her Haemophilia. Hair-wise, she wears her hair in half-up pigtails, but not too tight. Iselin thinks that it looks good with her hair type,
which she's not wrong about. She sometimes wears a classy pair of kyanite earrings, which complement her eyes perfectly.
Personality:
As a true Cancer, Iselin can be deeply empathetic, often sensing how others feel before they say a word.
Her warmth draws people in, though she’s not one to seek the spotlight. Instead, she prefers meaningful one-on-one
connections and moments of genuine understanding. She is also loyal to her family, her values, and the friends she lets into her inner circle.
While she may seem shy or reserved at first, those who get close discover her gentle humor and unwavering support. She’s the kind of friend who
remembers the small things and always seems to know when you need comfort. And most importantly, Iselin is quietly resilient. Even while dealing with things
like her condition, she rarely complains, instead focusing on adapting and finding balance. Her determination isn’t loud or forceful — it’s steady, like the tide.

ʚ ᗢ₊˚✧|"The Beginning": ↓
- Iselin was born on a rainy midsummer morning in Trondheim, Norway, the youngest child in a lively and loving household. Her father, Henrik, was a hardworking man, and worked in the labor force as an engineer. And her mother, Maren, was a Certified Nurse-Midwife (or CNM), which made Issa and her siblings' early stages a breeze. Speaking of siblings, the 2 older twins, Emil and Selma, stuck to each other like glue, as well as both feeling "jealous" of their new baby sister. Soon enough, they warmed up to Issa, and everything felt perfect for the Johansen family... until Issa's life was challenged.Just after she turned 3 months old, her parents noticed the intense and long-lasting bruising that would appear on Issa's body. Without a second glance, she was rushed to the hospital for inspection. After further testing (that took ages of overlooking), she was confirmed with a diagnosis of Haemophilia A, which was a rare bleeding disorder. Her parents were in disbelief, especially her mother. Though it wasn't impossible for females to get Haemophilia, it's mostly found in males, and there could only be 1 explanation for Issa. Finally cracking the case, the doctors found out that Maren, her mother, was a carrier of Haemophilia, but never showed symptoms of it. And for Issa, she had random X-inactivation in her body, which meant that most of her healthy X chromosomes are turned off. So with her mother's affected X, she was unable to hide it away, thus diagnosing her condition.
The diagnosis changed everything. The rest of her early childhood was carefully managed, like visiting playgrounds less often, waiting to learn kid activities like how to ride a bike and tumbling at a later age, having most corners of the house rounded off, etc. With energetic play off the table for Issa, she leaned towards a love for nature-wise and calming activities. This developed a quiet and observant demeanor in Issa, often being described as "An old soul in a kid's body". This also led to her spending more time with her grandmother (Mom's side), Momo Sigrid. She was a retired librarian who often babysat the kids when Issa's parents took extended shifts. Issa would love it when Momo Sigrid would read to her as she prepared for bed, and how caring and understanding she was to her. The two had a grandma-granddaughter bond that felt unbreakable. Throughout the rest of her formative years (0-10/ish), she grew a liking for the environment, drawn to books about oceans, forests, and endangered animals. Her parents also taught her how to self-advocate. They knew that when she grew up, she wouldn't be coddled like she was as a toddler, so they thought, why not now? She learned how to manage small bleeds, keep a medical card in case of emergency, inform her teachers about her condition, and stay strong and not believe what others thought of her, which overall helped her self-esteem and confidence. This now floods into her more recent years.

- Into her pre-teen/teen years, Iselin had begun to outgrow the cautious bubble of her early childhood. She wanted to do more, learn more, go places...and that's when everything went uphill. At age 11, Issa started researching maps, different cultures, countries perhaps. She felt as if she was discovering something new about herself. This was the key to finally getting herself out there, without the interference and worry of her fragility. One day, she borrowed a book about global architecture from her Momo, and after flipping a couple of pages, a photo slipped out. It featured a Kyoto shrine glowing red in the snow. She looked at the back, "Kyoto, Japan. 1998" She was fascinated at first glance. She began her research on Japan. The beautiful landscapes, ponds, lifestyle, people, animals, everything just piqued her interest. She could do countless nature studies, environmental help, cultural discoveries...the possibilities were endless. This began the decision of a lifetime for Issa.Throughout ages 11-15, Issa couldn't stop talking about Japan! Any chance she got, she'd research more about Japan, and at this point, she's searched the whole internet! She also started learning Kanji, though it was pretty difficult for her, lol. Out of her whole family, no one was more supportive than her Momo. Momo Sigrid would try and learn Kanji with Issa, as well as gifting her a dictionary/vocab book for her 14th birthday, one of the best birthday gifts Issa had, according to her. Issa's parents were supportive, though cautious. In their mindset, traveling abroad with a medical condition was no small thing...but they saw her eyes light up in ways that were rare. And slowly, they realized that Japan wasn’t a phase. It was a goal.
After countless discussions and family talks, Iselin's parents thought it would be a good idea to let her attend a secondary school in Japan. And on one cool afternoon in April, she applied within seconds of opening. The school she applied to was a very open and friendly secondary school located in Karakura, Japan. Luckily for Issa, they were open to any international students! The wait was long, there was countless paperwork in need of filling out, almost daily visits with her doctor for hospital transferring, and on top of that, she was required to find a host family she could live with until the end of the school year, or even graduation. Finally, the school brought the Johansen family into contact with the Takahashi family. The Takahashi family had hosted past students years prior, and were very understanding and educated on international students. Iselin was relieved; she was finally going to fulfill her dreams! It wasn't a matter of time until it was time for departure...

- It was summertime, just a few weeks before her 16th birthday. Iselin was looking over at her room, most of its "clutter" and personality taken down, all in her suitcase rolling beside her. As she shuts the door, a furry feline rubs its head against her shin. To backtrack, a few months ago, Momo Sigrid and Besto Einar (Her grandfather), were breeding Scottish Folds in their farmhouse, and decided to gift Issa one, as she was going away soon. It was a calico male, which was a very rare coat for male cats of this breed. She decided to name him Tobias, meaning "God is Good". He was a very loyal and emotionally supportive cat, brightening even the cloudiest days. Back from the flashback, Iselin walks out to the front door, as Selma struggles to put Tobias in a cat carrier. Iselin decided to bring Tobias with her to Japan, with the Takahashi's approval, of course. Fortunately, Mei Takahashi, the youngest daughter, is cat-obsessed, so Tobias will love it there! At the airport, the whole family got emotional, and many hugs were given. Issa's mom gave her a few things to remember home, like a family photo and a preserved flower. Her siblings congratulated her and can't wait to see her graduate. Issa's father nods, tells her to be strong, trying to hold back tears. Her Momo was also there. Seeing her for the last time was hard for Issa, remembering all the happy memories. And finally, with a leap of courage, Iselin boarded the airplane, never looking back.Landing in Japan was like stepping into a watercolor painting! Soft sounds, new scents, lanterns glowing in alleyways, and unfamiliar characters on every sign. At first, the sounds overwhelmed her. The heat clung to her clothes. People spoke quickly and politely. She bowed too much or not enough. She finally found the Takahashis holding up a "Welcome to Japan, Iselin!" sign high above their heads. Meeting her host family for the first time in person was a big step for Issa. She met her Host parents, Hiroshi-san, a high school teacher who is passionate about teaching, and is also very reserved. And Ayumi-san, a wonderful mother who loves to cook traditional dishes, but also experiments with other cultural dishes. Her host siblings were very interesting too! She met her older brother, Kaito-san, who is also a nature enthusiast, studying environmental science at university. Her other younger sister, Mei-chan, is as fun as she thought, as well as only 1 year younger. She also FaceTimed Mei constantly before she came to Japan! After a bit of chatting, she arrived at the Takahashi's house. Getting used to living in a new home was something Iselin had to go along with, but with Tobias, he settled in pretty fast.
It's now present day, and school has begun for Iselin, and it has been relatively exciting for her. She is now open to many new opportunities and getting to meet others! Her host family has been nothing but supportive of her since day 1, and Issa is thinking if it's worth it to pave the way till she graduates. Only time will tell.
