Volya 'Karl' Aiuchi-Stark
Really, he's one who should be dead by now. But he is the farthest from being such.
A man of mixed descent, that's who the so-called 'Karl' was. He stood at a rough 5 '11”, a confident stance to him even to those who took in his full appearance. His blue hair was lengthy, making it down to the lower section of his back. Such neatly cared for hair framed his face, that of which seemed to be a diamond shape and the features upon it were soft despite the many scars. Evidence of a burn scar remained over his left, stormy grey eye and a few other scars marred his face that made their way under his light blue one (it seemed he had some form of heterochromia, although rare). His eyes were almond shaped, a rounded quality to them. They were set fairly deep and seemed to have prominent eyelids that created a noticeable space between his lashes and brow bone. He seemed wide-eyed thanks to this alone, an expressive look that only added to his persona. There was also what many took in - his hooked nose with several freckles scattered across it. It seemed as if it had been broken a few times in the past. With this in mind, he still managed to have a model-like visage.
From there, you would start to take in the rest of Volya’s lithe stature. A man who many described as light - he seemed to be one who often exercised, despite this. A multitude of scars were visible, some of which happened to be on his right arm - carvings, cat scratches (which were from at least one of his many cats), and a few odd stitches that covered his wrist and fingers. There were also those that marred his throat and upper chest, although they were mostly healed by now.
His left arm, however, was noted to be a prosthetic from the shoulder down. This was matched with the prosthetic left leg he wore that was noted to be a part of whatever mess he got himself into. Then, for his right leg - something that was clean of scars save one, which was a carving across his thigh, a warning in Kanji for those who cared to translate it. But it was something strange. There was the mention of a certain doctor among said Kanji. Although if you wished to stare at it longer, it was typically covered up by the man you were examining as though he wished to keep it a secret from the public eye.

MENTAL INFORMATION:
Now this is a subject that is trod over by the man himself, something that he refuses to go into depth about. Even with his various psychologists, there has not been much revelation upon what may be wrong with him. Where there are a few things that are diagnosed, many others aren't. It's all dependent on one of the many facades that is handed to those who wish to prod into his mind.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how those who have it communicate with those around them, as well as the world at large.

PHOBIAS:
Autophobia: The fear of being alone.
This one seems odd, but it explains why he clings to certain others like a lost puppy.
Athazagoraphobia: The fear of being forgotten.
After what he's been through and how he views himself, how can you blame him?
Cleithrophobia: The fear of being trapped or locked in a specific place.
This could be related to the kidnappings and such he endured.
Atychiphobia: The fear of failure.
Something instilled into him by his previous parental figures, but it still prevails even to this day.
Atelophobia: The fear of imperfection, or simply just not being good enough.
This one is self-explanatory. It explains why he believes he must be seen by the world.
Thanatophobia: The fear of death.
You would expect someone who’s seen a lot of the face of Death himself to grow accustomed to it, however Volya would prove you dead wrong. No pun intended.
PERSONALITY:
A man of many faces, his personality shifted based on how he perceived those around him.
Some may know Volya as the type who’s overly excited, and maybe a bit too friendly - a bit of a walking contradiction knowing how half of the town knows certain things about him. This is especially more prominent when he’s actually comfortable with the people around him, especially family. He’s also extremely loyal to a fault. . But don’t tell him that outright, since he sees loyalty as something worth bleeding over. Volya’s also extremely protective of these people in particular, as shown in interactions with people he perceives as threats.
Someone who Volya has personal beef with may find out exactly how far he wishes to go to prove that. He’s a bit of an ass, to put it simply, and likes to taunt these people - jokingly sometimes, sure, but it still gives off some sort of egotistical air. Though he’s also prone to being quite cruel in this case and refuses to let up unless he realizes there’s a consequence for himself. In other words, he seems to be self-serving. In a way? They’re not wrong - if you’re not someone he can get anything out of and he happens to have a negative opinion on you either because of it or as a part of it, he doesn’t treat you well.
As for strangers? He seems distant, cold even. That’s the persona he throws up - it’s better to do that rather than let someone he doesn’t care for in. In a way, his ego also seems to come across this way as well. Sort of similar to a wallflower, but if it had thorns that let nobody unfamiliar near it without a purpose. Maybe it was Volya’s way of defending himself, who knew.
RELATIONSHIPS:
These will be in alphabetical order based on if they are family (blood related or otherwise) or not.
POSITIVE:
Alyx C. Stark; ALIVE | son (NPC)
Alyx is his only biological child, but Volya adores him nevertheless - even though he’s on the mainland, away from Karakura, most of the time. Safety reasons, if you were to ask either Felix or Volya about it.
Chatrin Ivanova; DEAD | biological mother
While his opinion on her has shifted some thanks to what he’s been made aware of, Karl still loves his mother regardless. She may have been quite flawed and a part of the reason why he’s become who he is today, but Chatrin’s still his mother.
Dahntay Stark; ALIVE | adoptive son
Dahntay is someone that was among the first that Volya took in when he was able to, providing him a family - however unstable - post what had happened to his biological family. He still adores the kid nevertheless, even with the way that their relationship is just as shaky as the rest of the family.
Emilien M. D. Stark; ALIVE | adoptive brother
While they do have a rather ‘hostile’ relationship, it’s nothing besides an act. At least on Volya’s side of the whole thing.
Eun-rae S. Kobayashi; ALIVE | adoptive daughter
Another one of Volya’s children, Eun-rae is yet another he’d do anything for. This girl means the world to him, just the same as the rest of his children.
Felix J. R. Stark; ALIVE | husband
Felix and Volya are the definition of high school sweethearts; they’ve been together through thick and thin, regardless of how dangerous the circumstances were. Sure, there’s a bit of a trauma bond there but neither of them seem to give a damn about that being what it is.
Although there is a bit of some unnamed tension there - one that Karl refuses to acknowledge fully.
Hiroto C. Stark-Hatake; ALIVE | adoptive father
While Karl doesn’t specifically remember how he and Hiroto met, he’s grateful that the man’s in his life regardless because Hiroto offers him the much-needed father figure that he had never gotten. They both are definitely close, and Karl wouldn’t trade that for anything.
Jake M. T. Stark; ALIVE | adoptive cousin
While there is a lot of guilt in what has happened thus far in their relationship, Volya respects Jake for not crumbling under everything — from what he can see. He doesn’t know how else to view Jake other than with positivity, even with their chaotic and unstable relationship.
Jane Sinclair; ALIVE | adoptive mother
Jane is someone that’s been with him ever since he was a small child, and for that he’s grateful. Volya can’t bring himself to dislike her even with recent revelations and refuses to cut her off because of it. While their family ties are beyond messy, he still adores her for the woman she’s become.
Gwayne Aiuchi; ALIVE | adoptive brother
Gwayne has been one of those that have taken a 360 degree turn when it comes to how they view each other - from being on opposing sides to their current state; brothers, not by blood but by what they’ve managed to make out for themselves. Volya views the other as someone who’s not going to betray him as easily as some others have and respects him for that.
Hanzō Stark-Kohaku; ALIVE | adoptive brother
While their relationship is quite rocky, Volya has realized that it wasn’t entirely the other man’s fault that he had to leave their family. He’s trying his best to be a better person for Hanzō’s sake.
Kazuko V. Stark; ALIVE | biological sibling
Kazuko and Karl have been there for each other since they were born, whether for better or worse. They’ve seen each other’s worst and best moments, been there for those moments. Even with their present distance, there is nothing that makes Karl regret being their brother.
Karma S. Tanaka; DEAD | half brother
Their relationship was definitely far from healthy but even with that being something Volya’s aware of; he doesn’t seem to give a damn. He still loves his brother and regrets not being able to stop him from passing how he did.
Layla C. Stark; ALIVE | adoptive sister
Someone he more so views as a daughter despite her being his sister, Volya is highly protective of her - just like how he is with most of his family (unless you’re Omori).
Natasha T. Stark; ALIVE | adoptive sister
Natasha’s probably one of the few Starks that actually terrify Volya, not that he’d admit it. Either way, she’s his little sister and he’d kill for her if she asked for it. No questions needed.
Nozomi Satoshi-Stark; ALIVE | adoptive? sister
Volya seriously would do anything for this kid, adoptive sibling or not. He’s already done enough crimes for her sake anyways.
Oki-Min S. Kobayashi; ALIVE | adoptive daughter
Oki-Min, similar to her twin, is another one that Volya would actually kill for if asked. There’s not much else to say, really.
Ren Aiuchi; ALIVE | adoptive brother
Ren’s someone that Volya would trust with his life despite not knowing him as long as he knew Gwayne. Though he’s still pissed about the younger man’s prior MIA status.
Surya S. Tanaka; MIA, believed to be dead | half brother
Similar to Karma, Karl regrets not being able to save the man - although he understands that it wasn’t entirely his fault as Surya was serving in the military at the time.
Taiyo T. F. Stark; ALIVE | adoptive brother
Taiyo is one of the few that Volya hasn’t had a negative interaction with, and thus he does genuinely adore him. Hopefully that won’t change in the future.
Toph Stark-Minori; ALIVE | biological sister
Volya genuinely adores her and sees her more as his own kid rather than sister. He wishes that he could do way more for her and make it so her life is as easy as he can make it, although Volya knows that that is nigh impossible with how the family’s luck is as a whole.
Victoria Thorne; DEAD | adoptive sister
The two of them were quite close, especially given the fact that they had been through a lot together. This is exactly why Volodymyr regrets what he has done - although he refuses to elaborate on why exactly he blames himself for her demise.
Akane Kakōs-Kuznetsova; ALIVE | friend
'Friend' is a simple term to explain their bond. She's like a mirror to his past, something he can't simply discard or break despite their initial meeting. A daughter he never had, the kind of person that he would kill for even if he hasn't known her as long as most. His past treatment of her may weigh heavy on him - but he doesn't care for that, despite everything. Even with the talk, that never stopped Volya from seeing her as family as of late.
Boone S. Sandora; ALIVE | estranged? friend
Even just the word ‘friend’ wasn’t enough to describe Boone, but it’s the best that Volya can muster. He’s one of the few that’s shown Volya genuine understanding, and the first that told him to his face that they forgave him for his sins — without any prior bias. A forgiveness he never thought he deserved, but one that was given to him regardless.
Even with these positive memories, it’s been years. When will he come back?
Leon June Kennedy; ALIVE | friend
One of Karl’s more light-hearted relationships, he and Leon have bonded over something quite as simple as sharing a language in a place that barely ever speaks it. They have trusted each other with a good amount of information, although Karl hasn’t entirely revealed everything to him.
Leonardo Alvarez Chusi; ALIVE | friend
Strange, very much so. Volya sees him as a rather eccentric person yet seems to not mind his company. Maybe it was projection, who the hell knew.
Marseille Amias; ALIVE | friend
Marseille and Volya have been friends for years now, and only recently have reconnected. There has been a drastic difference, Volya’s noted, but not enough to distrust Marseille by any means. So he’s happy enough to call Marseille a companion of his - just hopefully not something he’ll regret.
Shark Meyer; MIA | friend
First someone that Volya viewed with next to no interest, Shark quickly became a friend of his. These two are quite the duo now, even with their shared instability.
Snoobs Wigglesworth; ALIVE | friend
Someone who never asked for anything in return for the kindness he handed out like the apples he gifted the civilians of Karakura a few years ago, Snoobs has Volya's respect. He sees the man as a father figure - if he were to be fully honest with himself.
Yuno L. Kawayama; ALIVE | friend
More so a sister at this point despite a few recent arguments, Volya respects her - but not enough to listen to certain advice given. Though she's also stubborn, so it's mutual really.
Varian Viper; ALIVE | friend
Viper, better known as just ‘Vi’ by Volya, is another person that he deeply cares for. Volya believes that the other needs to strengthen himself in order to survive, yes, but he sees him as a good friend regardless - especially given how close the two of them are. Even after Varian’s complaints regarding Volya’s ‘child’, he still sees him as a good friend and would not replace him for anything, really.
NEUTRAL:
Nikandr Kyoshiro; ALIVE? | brother-in-law
Guilt. That’s the one thing that plagues Volya whenever he thinks of Nikandr, for this was the man he meant to protect in his final hours of freedom only for that to go to shit. Volya wishes he could turn back time just so he could ensure that Nikandr was free, but he’s aware that he will have to live the rest of his life with this guilt.
Omori Stark; ALIVE | adoptive brother
Volya just views him as severely unstable, and that’s rich coming from him but oh well. Omori was one of the reasons why he nearly died, but Volya doesn’t necessarily hate him. He’s just wary about being close to the man.
Yori Kyoshiro; ALIVE | nephew
Yori is one of those kinds of people that Karl can’t help but feel regret for what happened to them. Ever since it was revealed that he was family to Karl, he has tried his best to not dislike the kid. Although he still won’t help but feel guilty for his current state.
Maybe if Karl had kept his mouth shut and his urges held back, Yori wouldn’t be an orphan.
Vanna I. Stark; ALIVE | biological father
Volya loves his father truly, but the man is unpredictable to the point where Volya isn’t entirely sure on what to make of him. It could be how Vanna treats him or overall how he is towards the rest of the family, or perhaps both. Either way, it’s clear that Volya doesn’t have an idea on how specifically to view Vanna whatsoever.
Valentin Kyoshiro; ALIVE | undetermined
Valentin was not someone that Karl fully trusted since they met, but he knows the man deserved far better than he received despite Karl being the reason behind his pain - what with the creation of a certain gang that caused problems for more than just Valentin.
Kaede Minori-Hinemiya; ALIVE | ex? friend
Another confusing relationship, simply put. Volya can’t decide if he absolutely hates Kaede for still being alive or if he somewhat respects him enough to not try to kill him on the spot. Either way, he’s a pest in his own way - just not one Volya’s been able to get rid of.
Sirius Howell; ALIVE | ex higher-up
Sirius was not someone Volya expected in his life, much less in the way that it came to be. However, connections were never something that Volya complained about - especially in this life, where any relationship could mean a world of difference. However, this doesn’t mean that Volya completely trusts him - he just sees him as someone that benefits from his work, just the same as he does from Sirius’s.
NEGATIVE:
Liam Ivanov; DEAD | adoptive father
The reason why Karl’s childhood was a mess, that’s all Liam is to him. He’s nothing more than a weak link in the family - nobody and nothing important to him any longer.
Pierre T. Stark; ALIVE | biological brother
Now while Volya has grown somewhat sympathetic for the man recently, the pain that Pierre has caused him and his family will never go away. Thus, makes it to where reversing their entire relationship is impossible to do.
Aki Kyoshiro; ALIVE | brother-in-law
While Karl still is highly suspicious of Aki as a person and keeps up his guard given what’s happened, he believes that the man could eventually be better than he is right now. Karl also regrets how he has taken Aki’s brother away from him thanks to his own well-intended actions. However, this does not erase the disdain that Volya has for Aki.
Hellam Kimura; ALIVE? | ex gang mate
Hellam was one who took to Karl in a strange way, thinking that he was best to use and manipulate for his own sake. Karl has often suffered because of Hellam; having lost his arm and leg to the man in a way, as well as losing some part of his own sanity.
Myles MacAlasdair; ALIVE | ex friend
Once Tori was murdered, there was seriously no coming back from it. Volya did technically have it coming to him because of a certain death, which he doesn’t regret but still wishes things could have ended up differently for Tori. Myles is a product of this and Volya despises him with his entire core - which is why he’s glad the man’s locked up.
Reid MacAlasdair; DEAD | ex friend?
Reid was a good kid once, the kind that Volya would tolerate. Yet the boy ruined that - Volya couldn't let him get away Scott-free, after all. Maybe it's a good thing nobody knows what happened to the kid save a few.
Roman Brooks; ALIVE? | ex friend
This is one of the few men that manages to genuinely terrify Volya, whether it’s his actions or simply how he words certain things. Roman was one who was willing to take out his rage on Volya whenever he was angry and is the reason why the leg carving exists. Volya refuses to discuss him in a normal conversation (unless you’re close to him and he trusts you enough) and will oftentimes feel ill when the topic is brought up.
If you weren’t mentioned in this section, PLEEEEEEEASE tell me. Coz I know that isn’t the amount of enemies (or relationships in general) he really has.

HISTORY:
INFANCY
0-2 years old.
Born of an affair in Suzdal, Russia, Volya was the second one born of the twins. He was known under a different name as of his birth — a different title, one he discarded eventually. Volya was raised within his first two years by his parents, as well as his elder siblings when his mother had to leave for work related reasons. His father eventually gave up on the twins because of stress that Volya can’t afford to recall, leaving their elder brothers — Pierre and Chibi — left to raise them throughout the rest of their infancy and childhood years.
EARLY CHILDHOOD
3-6 years old.
Moving on from his infancy, his toddler years weren’t much easier. The twins were raised by two opposite sides of the same coin — Pierre being the more protective, but volatile, sibling, while Chibi was the calmer of the two. Volya often clung to Chibi because of his sense of stability; something the older male recalls often when asked regarding his siblings’ childhood. Volya was often found around him when their mother wasn’t present, often relying on him for the emotional support he never necessarily got from a parental figure beyond his brothers.
As the siblings grew older, Chibi was often found being the one who taught the twins basic necessities — as well as whatever other interests they had, including languages. Despite his emotional instability, Pierre still did what he could to protect the children and his brother, but he had his own stress to deal with, of course. This was prevalent even into their late childhood when their mother was finally allowed to come home thanks to another pregnancy — one that begets an explanation, but one that was never given. Volya just saw this as another sibling, so he asked no questions. At least he got to see his mother again!
LATE CHILDHOOD
7-12 years old.
However, that was not the end of his struggles. The new sibling raised concerns, namely with Pierre — who seemed to care more than his father did, despite the clear implications behind what had happened. This led to the arguments, which caused tensions in the home. Volya and Kazuko, his twin, often listened to these, but they were just children. They had no idea how to handle these and just did it the best they could; Kazuko detached herself from the situation, while her brother tried his best to distract himself with the better memories of the family and pestering others. This is what drove his father to attempt a further distance, as the man didn’t quite appreciate his child’s chaotic energy.
Over the next two years following Chatrin’s return when the twins turned seven, it was unstable. The more the arguments, the more instability was ensured within the household — leading to the chaos that was soon to come. Eventually, his stress added up far too much (both from his mother and the care of the children, including his new baby brother), and Pierre snapped one evening. Volya knows what happened that night, but he doesn’t recall the exact details — just the fact that his mother was killed.
This was what led to the family fracturing further, Volya shoving himself away from his elder brother while his sister kept herself detached. Even more so than normal — a way for her to deal with the situation in her own way.
After the murder, nothing remained the same. Volya grew more volatile, similar to how Pierre was, and changed quickly. His outbursts and meltdowns were more common, causing issues for the others in the family too — even if Volya didn’t want it. The only relief the family had was following Pierre’s arrest, but that didn’t last long.
Over the next few years, the trauma did build up, especially for Volya himself. This eventually got to the point where the boy had to be admitted to a Serbian hospital because of a particularly dangerous episode, but even that was villainized. The hospital was just as unforgiving as his own home life, but he had to pretend that he was healing. Volya met too many people — most of the faces blurring together, according to his own recounts of the situation. There were only a couple who really stood out to him, namely a younger boy named ▇▇▇▇ and another whom Volya avoided thanks to how much worse he seemed. From what he recalls, the former was someone who he harmed as a way of coping, more than likely — but the memory of what he did to the poor child was repressed, especially since he refuses to acknowledge it properly. The latter remains a presence in his mind, one he didn’t know how to place properly but still despised for a reason even Volya states he can’t recall.
TEENAGE YEARS
13-19 years old.
Following his departure from the mental hospital, Volya and his twin, Kazuko, were soon adopted by a man named Mikhail - their uncle. ‘Adopted’ being a stretch, more so he was their primary caretaker since Liam himself was unable to provide for them. Mikhail was the reason why they even moved to Japan, specifically Karakura’s island. Volya was enrolled into the local high school, while Kazuko herself was homeschooled. This, in all honesty, is what exposed Volya to what was going to shape his teenage years - and the rest of his life.
He wasn’t anyone who stood out far too much in his first two years, just making friends and going about his studies. Sure, there were a few things that he got involved in - like one of Karakura's many cults at the age of 14, but even then, he hadn’t necessarily joined it. However, around 15 years old, he was sent back to Suzdal for a year or so. More so because his uncle believed that he would benefit from seeing his father, who he’d claimed been a ‘better man’. That, frankly, was not the case.
Volya was one who acted out often, something that his ‘father’ never appreciated. The amount of time they spent together showed that, and with it went Liam’s legal guardianship over Volya. The boy was disowned a few days after his 16th birthday, thus being sent back to Japan. However, this was a blessing in its own right as this was around the time that Volya met Felix. The two of them were deep involved in crime when this happened, but it still didn’t quite shake whatever bond they had. From that meeting where the Akihito estate now stands to when they vandalized Kimura’s car, the two went through a lot in these few years. At least until Volya straight up vanished one day. No explanation to Felix, his boyfriend (now fiance) just went MIA one day.
Now that was one period of his life that actually added to how he behaved, even years later - after being left to fend for himself in God knows where. All Volya claims to remember is that it was cold, far too cold. Even for Russia, his home country - nothing that was a good sign in other words. But he did find his way home eventually, even after almost an entire year.
YOUNG ADULTHOOD
20-24 years old.
Following his arrival back home, he and Felix did take it a step farther and got married. They didn’t waste much time when they were able to and took care of it when he was back, even with the amount of shit that both had gone through in the time Volya had been considered MIA legally. There was . . . a lot that happened following that, but it didn’t change much. From the torture to being one of Mefisuto’s higherups for some time, Volya had managed to accomplish and also go through a lot. Though sometime after his 20th birthday? He decided to take his college to the mainland for some change of pace, and that managed to happen.
Despite failing his exams in his bachelor’s year, Volya did graduate when he turned 24 - with a Master’s degree in Journalism, not something many would have expected from him unless they knew him particularly when he was in KC’s Journalism Club. Following that, the chaos continues when he came back to Karakura - and no, it hasn’t stopped even recently. Maybe that’s trying to tell Volya something, but it’s not like he’ll listen.
This part is still a WIP but is mostly finished!!
